John Van Gelderen

John R. Van Gelderen (1956–) is an American preacher, evangelist, and author whose ministry has focused on revival and the Spirit-filled life, influencing evangelical churches across the United States and over 20 countries. Born in Durango, Colorado, to a pastor’s family, he grew up in the Chicago area after his father started a Christian school there in the 1970s. He came to faith as a young child and, at age 15, surrendered to a call to preach during his high school years at Bob Jones Academy. He earned a BA and MA in Bible from Bob Jones University, followed by a Doctorate in Pastoral Theology, and served as an assistant pastor for five years before entering full-time evangelism in 1992. In 1984, he married Rhonda, and they have three daughters—Stephanie, Janna, and Annaleese—often involving them in his ministry travels. Van Gelderen’s preaching career is anchored by his leadership of Revival Focus Ministries, which he founded with his father to promote personal and corporate revival, and his role as vice president of Baptist College of Ministry in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, since 2000. Known for messages like “Experiencing Jesus” and “The Divine Offer,” he has spoken at churches, conferences, and youth camps, emphasizing dependence on the Holy Spirit, as seen in his nine books, including Experiencing Jesus and The Revived Life, and his editorship of Revival magazine. Based in Michigan with his wife, a gifted vocalist, he continues to travel internationally as of 2025, leaving a legacy as a preacher dedicated to awakening believers to the transformative life of Christ through faith and practical biblical teaching.
