Waking Up America With Gospel Signs
Roger Hertzler

Roger Hertzler (N/A–) is an American preacher and writer whose ministry within Anabaptist circles emphasizes radical discipleship and practical Christian living, particularly through his focus on biblical stewardship and evangelism. Born and raised in the United States—specific details about his early life are not widely documented—he resides in Halsey, Oregon, where he is affiliated with Valley Christian Fellowship. Converted to Christianity, Hertzler has dedicated his life to sharing the gospel, notably through street witnessing with gospel signs, a passion that led him to found Watchman Gospel Signs, offering low-cost tools for evangelism. Hertzler’s preaching career is marked by his thoughtful sermons and writings, including books like Through the Eye of a Needle and How to Shake the World With $100, which challenge believers to reject materialism and pursue treasures in heaven. His messages, available on platforms like SermonIndex and Anabaptists Live, often address themes of wealth, sanctification, and outreach, as seen in talks like “Treasures in Heaven” and his article “Mission to the Telemarketer,” reflecting a burden for unconventional evangelism. While not a high-profile figure, his ministry influences Anabaptist communities through teaching and personal example, leaving a legacy of simplicity and gospel-centered living. Personal details, such as family, remain private, but his work continues to inspire a return to New Testament faith principles.

Sermon Summary
In this sermon transcript, the speaker expresses their initial anger and discomfort upon encountering a message about sinners being condemned to hell. They admit to wanting to destroy the message and avoid thinking about it. However, they repeatedly come across the message, which forces them to confront the reality of judgment and salvation. The speaker acknowledges that while some preach the bad news of judgment, there is also good news of a Savior who died for our sins. They mention a man who uses a converted rescue vehicle to display verses about repentance and salvation. The transcript ends with the speaker's struggle to ignore the message and their desire to forget it.
Sermon Transcription
Thank you, Nathan. Today we still have an opportunity to get the gospel out in this country. We still have an opportunity of freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and Brother Rogers is going to tell us about taking that opportunity and trying to make a difference and making an impact in the culture that we live in. We might not always have that opportunity. He might tell us a little bit about that, the direction we're going as a country. And so, Brother Rogers, if this time you'd come forward, we'll have a word of prayer and we'll begin this session. Father in heaven, thank you for the freedoms that we enjoy in this country. Thank you so much for the expressions in those early papers and the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the things that we enjoy, we take for granted. We thank you for those that have gone on before us in Europe and paved the way for this freedom that we enjoy today. Thank you, Father, that we've been placed here for such a time as this, and now we pray that you would bless our brother and speak to our hearts, oh God, in the days and the times we live in. For Jesus' sake, we pray. Amen. All right, good morning. Thank you all for being here. Thank you all for partaking so far in these meetings. Thank you, Brother Ed, for your thoughts earlier on the Anabaptist worldview and maintaining that, and at the same time, in conjunction with it, being salt and light in this world. Those two things need to go together, and they do go together very well, and I appreciated the presentation this morning already. So thank you for that. Waking up America with gospel signs. Warning, flee from the wrath to come. That's the message of tonight, this morning, I guess it is. It was going to be an afternoon message, but flee from the wrath to come. These are obviously taken from Matthew 3, 7, John's words there when he came speaking to a group of people who were not right with God. Now, if I'm going to talk about gospel signs, I'm going to take you way back in history, and we're going to start by talking about a man that we read about in the Bible, and give me just a moment here. I'm going to get this slide presentation working. If I can. I was hoping the arrow keys would work on my keyboard here. We'll try that. Well, that's supposed to be a picture of Noah up there, all right? Everybody can see that okay? Is it dark enough in here? All right. Well, I'll tell you about it as we go. That's supposed to be Noah, all right? We're going to talk about Noah for just a moment. Noah was, if you remember right, somewhere around 500 years old when he was called of God to build an ark. God told him there's a flood coming. He was 600 years old when the flood finally came and Noah entered the ark. That's 100 years difference, 500 years old to 600 years old. My question is this, what was Noah doing during that 100 years in between? Now we could surmise that of course he was building the ark. He was probably gathering animals to put into the ark. He was doing a lot of the things necessary to get ready for this world changing trip he was about to take. But what else was he doing? We don't read about this in the Old Testament, but up in the book of 2 Peter we read that Noah was preaching during that time. He was warning the people, exactly right. Now, but my question is this, why was he warning them? Why was he preaching? Was it because he hoped that some of them would get on the boat with him? Maybe there was that hope, but you know, God told him clear back at the beginning of that period of time exactly how many souls he was going to get. You know how many souls God says you're going to win? You're going to win Noah, you're going to win yourself and your wife and your sons and your sons' wives. That's the limit of the converts you're going to get. But he preached anyway, knowing that that was all he was going to get. Isn't that amazing? Now, why would you preach if you already know ahead of time that no one's going to respond? That's a question that I wrestled with and that's a question people have asked me. The other month we went with a friend of mine. He goes around the country preaching at different campuses, going on to the college campuses and preaching the gospel. And so we went with him one time, a friend and I, and out there one of the students came up and I think it was somewhat in jest, said, why are you out here? Why are you out here on the campus sharing the gospel? With the implication, do you really think these educated college students are going to respond and they're really going to make a change? I said, that's a good question. I said, there's three reasons we come out here. And the first and best reason is because God told us to share the gospel. It's honoring him. It's not primarily for you. Now that's the second reason that it is for you. God's not willing that any should perish. We're not willing that you perish. We'd love to see you be converted. Repent, bow the knee to Jesus Christ. That is also a reason that we come out here and share with you. There's a third reason. And that is for those of you who are not going to respond to warn you. For those of, for the people that are truly just, they've made their decision, they've set their lot. God still says, warn the wicked. And in Ezekiel, he told it, he told Ezekiel, he says, if you don't warn the wicked, his blood over all required your hand. If you don't do something about this, you know, what's going on. So Noah is going into town to buy lumber, to build this big boat. And he sees people, people, everywhere, people, sinful people, slaves to sin, loving their sin, destined for perdition. He knew that every one of them was going to perish in the flood. Something in Noah, I suppose, rose up in him and he says, I've got to do something. I've got to warn them. Maybe God even commanded him to warn the people. And it seems as though there's something in the heart of God that if he knows people are going to go to perdition, that he at least wants them to go with ringing in their ears a warning. There's something about the righteousness of God that is exalted. When, first of all, the people come to come to repentance. Oh, God loves that. When they come to repentance, that's God's will. He's not willing that they perish, but if they're going to perish, God wants a warning given to them because it does lift up the righteousness of God. We're here primarily to serve God secondarily to serve the people. So that's what, that's what Noah saw. Every time he went to town, he'd see these multitudes and something would burn with him. Let me ask you a question. Does that burn within you? When you see people driving out here on this busy road, whatever it is, you go into Tampa, we were just there in the airport. Does that burn within you? When you see people, most of whom according to the scripture are going to eternal perdition, knowing that in yourself you have, and I'm assuming here that everyone here, you're born again, you're walking with Christ, you're living, you're living the, uh, in the light of the gospel. You have that light. Does that burn within you? As you see the people, the masses heading for hell, eternity in hell. And let me tell you about a man who did, it did burn within him. This man's name was, sorry about that. This man's name was Ralph Palmer. You can read about him in a book, a sore went forth available from Rod and staff publishers. Ralph Palmer was a man who was grew up in a, uh, in a, I don't know, a non Christian home anyway. And he lived a rough life until he was led to the Lord by a Mennonite preacher, George R. Brunk senior, George Brunk senior. He joined the local Mennonite group there and he became a burden for the lost around him. He got discouraged when he couldn't seem to get his friends to go with him. But, and that was, that was a problem he fell into. He fell into sin himself after that discouragement. It was no excuse for him, but he did. That's what he did. And after falling into sin, God kept calling him and finally got ahold of him through a sickness, a deathly sickness. God says, I've got a plan for this man. He brought him back into the, into the faith. And Ralph Palmer says, you know what? I'm not going to make my life depend on people around me doing what's right or not. I'm going to do what's right. I'm going to follow God. And he, he, he, he joined back in with the church and he says, what can I do to be useful in the kingdom of God? One of his preachers asked him a question, Ralph, could you stand on the street corner and pass out gospel tracks? Could you do that? He was physically, I think a little bit affected by the disease that he had been burdened or taken down with. And so I think he was a little bit limited to what he could do. And he says, I think I could do that. So he gets a box of tracks and he stands out there in the street corner and starts passing these out. That blossomed into a nationwide ministry where he was, he was passing out tracks all over. It's, I think he started in Virginia, but pretty soon it was all up and down the East coast and all, all across clear out to Oregon. I know he was out there at least a number of times, amazing number of gospel tracks. He passed out an amazing number of people affected for the gospel. People would, he would, he would, he would go and pass out gospel tracks to some days up to 10,000 a day. If you calculate that out for eight hours, that's every three seconds. He's passing out a track hand to hand, one man touching all these people. Someone calculated 10 million tracks were passed out by Ralph Palmer during his entire life's ministry. But as, as, as Ralph Palmer was driving around, he started to see something. They were driving around this camper that they had and along the roadside, he'd see signs advertising different things, advertising vehicle, advertising, whatever, donuts, advertising food, advertising furniture. And he said to himself, if this were not an effective way to communicate, people wouldn't put up these signs, these billboards. And he says, if it is an effective way to communicate, then it should also be an effective way to communicate the gospel. And so Ralph Palmer started building gospel signs and sending them all over the United States and things like this messages prepared to meet thy God. Now is the day of salvation. And he'd post these things, these signs up along highways and he'd find, you know, different churches to sponsor them. And again, an amazing number of gospel signs he sent out. Every one of us shall give account to God. Christ died for our sins. You know, some give the bad news, some give the good news. It's all the gospel. There's judgment coming, but there is a savior and giving both sides of that. Christ died for our sins. Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. You must be born again. Repent or perish. Maybe you're asking the question, is this, is this effective at all? Does it really change lives? These signs posted along the roads. Well, let me just share with you one little story from his ministry, a true story about a real man. John Dan Miller felt a surge of anger as he approached a certain point on his regular weekend travel to and from Bloomfield, Ohio, with a certain point just a short distance ahead where that sign was located. What would he not do if he could get hold of the person who had put it up? The sign figuratively had been hitting him in the face for some weeks past. He knew it was not far ahead. A small sign with only three words there by the roadside, repent or perish, was all it said. But it made him furious. The first time he had seen it, he stared at it in anger. What business did anyone have putting up such a sign as that after all? Was not his life his own affair? Whose business was it whether he repented or not? Why could people not take care of themselves and let others alone? He had wished when he first saw it and the word smashed into his consciousness that he could take an axe and break it up. In fact, he probably would have if he thought he could get away with it. The words had been hammering at him week after week. It was especially bad at night when he needed to sleep. Repent or perish, repent or perish. The words brought with them also remembrance of many things he would rather forget. Now, as he approached the sign, he deliberately looked the other way. He simply would not let him let it have a chance to hit him again. He would make himself forget it. But the trouble was, he knew very well why he was so carefully turning his eyes the other direction. And look where he would. The words still were definitely in his mind and upon his conscience. Some thousands of years ago, Jeremiah the prophet quoted God as saying, is not my word like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Now, John Dan was experiencing that hammer beating upon his mind, his stony heart. It was the Holy Spirit driving home upon his conscience those hammer blows and he could not hush them, especially at night while trying to sleep. Repent or perish, repent or perish. One night, unable to stand it any longer, John Dan arose from his bed and kneeling down, turned himself over completely to God, receiving the Lord Jesus as his Savior. He had repented and now bringing forth fruits, meat for repentance, he need not perish. As he finally went back to bed, he was happier than he had ever been in his life. A true story. One soul would be worth it all. Ralph Palmer saw some other opportunities. Let me say this too. If you still have a question, is it effective? Let me tell you about Christian Aid Ministries. I get their little newsletter that they send out. And they have these billboards that they're putting up all over the United States. These big billboards that people are driving by, thousands every day on these freeways. And short messages, Jesus, the only way to God. Bound by sin, Jesus Christ brings freedom. Where are you going, heaven or hell? Just these short little messages in great big letters up there on these billboards. People are driving by, thousands a day. In fact, I think it's in the millions a day. Several million per day drive by their 70-some gospel signs. Maybe it's more than that by now. But if you want to know if they're effective, get their newsletter and read the conversations that they have when they call that toll-free number on the billboard. People are talking to these counselors and there's no question, lives are being changed. People are being affected. And the numbers that drive by these things are truly mind-boggling. We don't have any idea about the people who drive by them and don't call the toll-free number because there's millions of those. So what's the effect of it? And as Ralph was driving along, then he saw another opportunity. And as I tell you about this opportunity, let me just ask you a couple of questions. Let me ask you to imagine something now for just a moment. Imagine you are walking down in a town and you see, probably not Ralph Palmer, he's gone now, but you see another soldier of Christ out there passing out tract. You decide, I'm going to be an encouragement to him. I'm going to go take a tract from this man. So you walk up and say, can I have one of those tracts? Thank you, sir. And you walk away with this tract in your hand. Now just imagine with me a little bit that you open this tract up and it's blank inside. And you look at the thing and you say, why is he passing out blank tracts? You go back to him and you say, sir, why did you give me this blank tract? What's your purpose for being out here? And he looks down at the tracts in his hands and he says, oh no. He gets a shocked look on his face. He says, I grabbed the wrong box of tracts when I left home this morning. And he says, I've been wasting my time out here. Wasted opportunities. Just passed out a thousand of these. There's a thousand people that could have heard the gospel and they didn't. A thousand people could have been challenged about their eternal destiny and they have not been challenged. You say that would sure be crazy, wouldn't it? Well, think, let's keep thinking. Suppose Christian Aid Ministries would go rent a billboard. They said, it's time to put up another billboard and we're going to put, we're going to, we're going to get this thing reserved. We're going to pick out one that's in a really good location. And so they call the billboard rental company and they find one. They say, yeah, we have one just perfect for you. It's right along a busy highway. And so they say, we'll take it. Well, they ask him how much it is and it's $600 a month rent. And so they send them a check for that and they go out there and they clean off the sign, get it all ready for letters. And then they just leave it a blank sign. Thousands of people every day driving by this blank billboard thinking the same thoughts they've always thought. It doesn't change them at all. They keep paying their $600 a month, but the billboards blank, nothing there. You said that would sure be crazy, wouldn't it? Let me ask you a question. Now, most of us have driver's licenses. We drive through towns. How many people see your vehicle when you drive through town? How many people, I'm not asking you how many people notice your vehicle. I'm saying just how many people have your vehicle pass in front of their vision, at least once drain an average trip to town or an average trip down the freeway. Maybe you're driving the speed limit and you have people passing you and your vehicle looks like this, just an average white van. How many people say, I suppose it's probably thousands. You know, if you spend an hour on the road, I suppose thousands of people will see your vehicle. But if your vehicle looks like this, they're thinking the same sinful thoughts that they thought before they saw the vehicle. It doesn't change them at all. It just looks, it's just an average vehicle and they don't take anything of it. But what if we'd modify that vehicle just a little bit and put a little sign on there. Where will you spend eternity? And I have some of these here. These are the, I couldn't enroll these, but they come rolled up like this and you can put these on. We send these all out all over the United States and just a, just a little sign there. Where will you spend eternity now? How, what's that man going to think of? Thank you, brother. Um, what, when he sees that sign, do you think he's going to keep on thinking about whatever lustful thoughts were going through his mind? At least for a moment, he's going to think about that question. Maybe for an hour, maybe for days. You know, when the gospel, the gospel takes root in somebody, it starts with a thought and you've just planted a thought in one person's mind. If only one person sees that sign, if thousands of people see it, there's thousands of people that see that sign. Well, Ralph Palmer, wasn't the kind of man to let opportunity slip from his hands. And so he took this camper that he was driving around and he went to a sign painter and got signs painted on this, um, camper, prepare to meet thy God. Sinners shall be turned into hell. I'll just hold this up so you can see that. That's what it looks like. That's four of them actually have here. And, uh, that's what it looks like when it comes in the mail. And then you put it on and I can tell you a little bit more about how they go on, but it's fairly simple process. You see, they're all spaced. You don't have to snap a line or get anything, you know, straight on there. They're all, they're all straight. As long as you put it on straight this way, you're going to, you're going to have a nice, straight, neat looking sign on there and people can read it from, from way back. Well, Ralph Palmer, let's go back to his story. He got these signs painted on this camper and he drove around and people saw them. Lots of people saw them. Again, you're asking the question, does it have an impact? Is it something that, um, truly changes lives? Well, let me, let me keep reading true stories from the same, uh, from the same book. One day, this is, this is Ralph Palmer's wife. Now talking, she says one day as we sat at a lunch counter, a middle-aged man whom we had known since his youth came up to us. I want to tell you, Ralph, he said, how much I appreciate those signs you have on your car and camper. You know, I've been a church member for many years, but I was not really right with God. Whenever I saw those signs about judgment and hell, I would wince. They hit me pretty hard. You've touched me many a time, Ralph, when you didn't even know I was anywhere around. Well, about six months ago, I made a change, a definite commitment to God, really got right with him. I saw your camper out there. And so I came to find you. Let me read you another one. They were parked here in a busy intersection. And here's what happened. She says, then I saw coming across the street, a far, uh, uh, across the street from the far side, a young man who seemed to be heading directly our way as he drew near. I said to Ralph over there is a nice looking young man who appears to be coming to us. I wish you could see him. He has an unusually good look on his face. Just then, as the young man came within speaking distance, the stranger smiled and said, well, praise the Lord. Amen. I smiled back. I noticed he carried a Bible in his hand. That's a mighty good book you have there. I reached my hand to touch the Bible lying on our dashboard. It's the same book we have here. He flashed another happy smile. Well, what about that? It looks like we belong to the same family, doesn't it? He told us his name and then went around to Ralph's side to tell his story. I've been trying to get a chance to talk with you folks for the past six months. Many times I've seen you drive around here and there. Newborn News Hampton out on Interstate 64, but I could never find you parked where I might speak to you. I want to tell you what happened to me many years ago. I became a Christian, but then later got out of fellowship, completely out of fellowship with God. Well, one day driving out Mercury Boulevard right there in my face, suddenly these great big signs hit me. Sinners shall be turned into hell and all that do not obey God. I flinched as I read the words and turned my head quickly away. The young man made gestures with his shoulders, head and face to demonstrate his reactions. I was furious. I knew the words were true and to tell the truth. That's why it made me so angry. I thought, but well, I'd better not put into words exactly what I thought, but I was mad that anyone had nerve to get out in public like that and force people to see what they didn't even want to think about. I wished I could take an ax and smash the whole thing. I watched my chance to pass and soon left it all behind. But then to my surprise, suddenly there it was again, right in my face. It happened over and over. I'd be peacefully driving along and then without warning here, these words were hitting me like a slap on the face. Sinners shall be turned into hell and all that do not obey God. I couldn't get away from it. Couldn't forget it. It began to get to me. I was so nervous. I had trouble sleeping. You know, as well as I, what this was, it was the Holy Spirit taking those words and using them to force me to face up to my condition to that my need to get right with God. So finally, one night unable to sleep, I got out of bed, fell on my knees and with all my heart, gave myself everything completely over to God. Believe me, brother, that was a happy time. I just wanted you to know how much good you did me. And then as they fellowshiped right there on the street corner, they talked some more, they gave him some little quick discipleship, they gave him some materials to take with him. And she says, as the young man left us, we remembered once again the promise of scripture that he which has performed a good work, who begun a good work in you will perform it into the day of Jesus Christ. And we pray that these words would be true in the case of this young man. Again, I asked the question, does it have an effect? It certainly does. So he put signs on his camper. And after reading this story, I think I got this, the book about Ralph Palmer from, I think it was my mom gave us a gift certificate or something and for my birthday here about five, six years ago. And it just, as I read those stories, I said, this is something that we should be doing, somebody should be doing. And so we started making some of these signs ourselves out there in Oregon. And, um, there's plenty of room for them all across. You could have another sign maker right here in Sarasota and every church that's represented here. There's, there's plenty of need for gospel signs. There's a, there's that same van with that sign. And then here's a, here's what it looks like parked along the street where lots of people are going to be seeing it driving by every single day. That's a, that's a busy road. I suppose there's, I don't know, 5,000 a day would drive right by that van, right where it's parked. Repent and you're be converted that your sins may be blotted out. Sin, death, judgment, eternity. Are you ready to meet God? Sometimes you can put scripture on there. Sometimes you can put a question, something just to make them think something on the front to get the oncoming traffic. Jesus saves from sin. Here's the van that, um, I've been driving around for the last, I don't know, five or six years. Repent and believe the gospel on one side. After death is judgment on the back, the wages of sin is death. Jesus saves in the front. So that's a lot of signs. But my friend, maybe he was joking. Here's what he told me. He says, but you see down there on the, on the paint, you got letters up on the window, but down on the paint, you know, you got lots of room. Why don't you put some verses down there? And I, I told him, well, if I do that yet, people might think I'm radical or something. And, but here's a guy who didn't seem to be afraid of being radical. He bought this machine from a fire department and he converted it into, it was called a rescue vehicle before we, he called it, he's now using it to rescue in a different way. Put all these verses on, I think he's got 20 some verses all over that vehicle. What will it profit a man up there at the top? What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Jesus said, repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Seek the Lord while he may be found. I'm reading some of these. I don't know if there's anybody that can't read them. Maybe for the sake of the tape as well. I'll just read some of these verses. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man, his thoughts, and let him return to the Lord and he will have mercy upon him. And then there's the back. Have you turned from sin to Christ? And the bottom says, God commands all men everywhere to repent because he's appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man. He is a point ordained. He has given assurance of this and to all in that he has raised him from the dead. And on the front, you must be born again. On the other side, where will you spend eternity? Repent and believe the gospel. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And here's just some other signs that we've done as well. There's just a small sentence on that one. Seek the Lord while he may be found. But you know that by itself is enough to cause people to think just that little phrase right down there at the bottom. You don't have to have it all over. You don't have to have the huge letters, but you can if you want to. And there it is up close. Seek the Lord while he may be found. Do you have a guilty conscience? Repent and believe the gospel. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Without holiness, no one will see the Lord. God created the earth. Evolution is a lie. Die to yourself and live by Jesus' teachings to find eternal life. He that doeth righteousness is righteous. He that commit a sin is of the devil. Repent. Fear him who can destroy body and soul in hell. We can even do them in other languages, at least if they use the same alphabet we do. Prepare to meet thy God is up there on the window. After death is judgment. Today is the day of salvation. And down at the bottom it says, repent and read the Bible. And there it says, are you right with God? Someone down in, uh, I think that was the Dominican Republic. Jesus said, love your enemies in the beginning. God, not evolution. There's a harvester. It says, pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest that he will send labors into his harvest. And there's a closeup of the same one and the same farmer got it on his tractor. Break up your fallow ground for it is time to seek the Lord. Atheism is a temporary condition. The fool has said in his heart, there is no God. Jesus said, I'm the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus said, if you love me, keep my commands. Where were you? This man, he knew he wanted to, he didn't want to block the view out of his back window. So he says, well, I'm just going to put it down along the bottom. So people come up behind him in traffic, maybe he's on the freeway and they'll, they'll see this down at the bottom. It's not very big letters. Where will you spend eternity? But then they come up beside him and here is a verse that he has on the left side, whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the Lake of fire. Or if they come up on the other side, it says, why call you me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say. If you love me, keep my commandments, the coming of the Lord draw off nice, seek the Lord while he may be found. A friend of mine told me he remembers as a little boy, he was going to church and lots of people were, uh, you know, they'd have visitors. They, they had this church parking lot full of dark colored vehicles. And at the particular church he was going to, and somebody else came in driving in this, this parking lot. And he says, he remembers they had signs all over that thing. Gospel signs. He remembers that from a little boy. It just really stands out in his mind. Everybody of course from church to go out there to look at this vehicle. And this was quite caused quite a stir. Now, now what would it be like though? If we could reverse that to where the oddball vehicle is the one without signs. You ever think of that? Wouldn't that be neat? You know, every, Hey, come look at this. Here's a guy that doesn't have any gospel signs. I just, just a dream I have. Okay. Let's keep going. Dear friend. Do you know where you will eternity? Evolution is a failed fairy tale for grownups and a website to direct them. There's that one again. Dear friend, where are you? Where will you spend eternity? Seek the Lord where you may be found. And that's this sign right here. That's the exact message, exact size and everything on that pickup. These four are yeah. First come first serve. So, and I've got more back in Oregon if you, if you'd like them. So, yeah, so there'll be given away if, if I have any takers, you must be born again. Seek sinner, seek the Lord, repent of all your sin. The wicked shall be turned into hell after death is judgment. You want to take a close look at that one. I think that used to be an Isuzu pickup. It's now an, is you ready? Pick up He that hath the son hath life. The wages of sin is death. The wicked shall be turned into hell. Seek ye out of the book of the Lord and read. Prepare to meet thy God. Jesus came to save sinners. If you notice that's the same car, this man got it, got one message and he decided to switch and do another one after everybody in his town had seen the first message. So you can, you can take them off if you need to love us. Thou me, Jesus, if you love me, keep my commandments. Have you committed murder or adultery in the sight of God? War is murder. Abortion is murder. Anger is murder. Lust is adultery. Remarriage is adultery. Porno is adultery. Why call you me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? His commandments are not grievous. Jesus, there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. God is a righteous judge. Seek the Lord while he may be found. Now here we're getting up to the two by three signs that we do. I think very similar to the ones that Ralph Palmer would send out. These are made on corrugated plastic, so they're weatherproof. Rain isn't going to hurt them at all. Water, I suppose eventually five or six years later, maybe the sun would eventually break them down somewhat, but they'll last a long time. And so again, those are two foot by three foot. Whosoever commit a sin is a servant of sin. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Which concerns you more, the economy or eternity? Repent and believe the gospel. On the day of judgment, what will you do with your sin? And then here's some more. All liars shall have their part in the lake of fire. Come out from among them and be separate, saith the Lord. Do you know where you will spend eternity? Examine yourselves to see if you're in the faith. We heard that verse this morning already. He who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. That's one that we probably get more comments on, more reaction to than any other sign. A friend of mine was on a street just holding it and a guy drives by and he sees him out there holding the sign. He whips in there and says, are you serious about that sign? Does the Bible really say that? He says, I've been divorced and I was thinking about getting remarried and all my pastors are telling me it's okay. And I didn't know that verse was in the Bible. He says, I've been struggling with it a little bit. You're the first person that's confirmed my struggles at all. Is there a way that maybe we have or we have blood on our hands or maybe we could get blood off of our hands by letting people know what the Bible says. There's a lot of people that simply don't know this verse is even in the Bible. We could let them know in one way, at least through gospel signs in despair. Jesus is your hope. This is a message I borrowed from Christian aid ministries. This is one of their billboards. I modified a little bit to fit a little sign. Another one, where will you spend eternity? Heaven or hell? It's your choice. I hate divorce, says the Lord Malachi 2 16. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Jesus rescues us from the coming wrath. Jesus said, I'm the way, the truth, and the life Jesus saves no lukewarm Christians in heaven. Repent and be converted that your sins may be blotted out. Sin when it is finished brings death. The fool has said there is no God. These signs were great. Three minutes left. Thank you. Uh, these signs were great. If you want to just go and stand on a street corner and share with people, we were doing that one time. Some, a couple of us, we were at a busy street corner where a freeway comes down and hits a highway and just lots of traffic all the time going right through that one intersection. And it's, it's probably been about five years ago that we were there with these, these signs. And here comes a car driving down off the freeway and hits that intersection. And they pull across and whip into the parking lot right beside me where I was standing with a sign that said, prepare to meet thy God. And I think there was a, there was more down below and they said, we were talking just as we were coming down this freeway. Uh, there was a boyfriend and girlfriend. They said the boyfriend was saying, you know what? He was just thinking about suicide, not because life was especially troublesome, but he said, if it ever gets a little bit troublesome, he says, I don't believe in God and I don't think anybody else believes in God anymore. And uh, so he, but, but his girlfriend said, Oh no, I still believe in God. You shouldn't commit suicide no matter what happens. And so they were arguing back and forth, but she didn't have a real strong conviction either. And here they come down off the freeway and see a man standing there holding a sign saying, prepare to meet thy God. And so they whip into the parking lot and argue among themselves for a few minutes and finally called me over there. And we had about a 45 minute talk and they, they were very open. They wanted to know that, I mean, just the fact that somebody else believed, you know, there's a lot of people out there that think no one else believes. They never run into anyone who believes anything strongly and much less strongly enough to actually put it on their, on their vehicle or, or anything like that. Let's keep going. He who sins is a slave of sin. The truth will make you free. The wicked shall be turned into hell. We shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Where will you spend eternity? Faith without works is dead. You know, a lot of our witnessing is going to be to the professing believers. Fear God and keep his commandments. Matthew 7, 14 says that few find the way to life. He who endures to the end shall be saved. Jesus said, love your enemies. And here's some verses. Here's some signs that we had. I think this was actually the one that I had on that street corner. Um, but we can put two verses on same side signs. We've got to shrink the letters down to get two verses on instead of one. After death is judgment. Now is the day of salvation. Sin brings death. Christ died for our sins. He who sins is a slave of sin. The truth will make you free. Good news and bad news. Repent and believe. If you love me, keep my commands. The word of God is quick and powerful. Why don't we stop with that one right there? God's word is powerful. It changes lives. It has an effect on people. What is it that we want to be? People see us. We are supposed to be the salt and the light of this earth. And as people drive around and they see us and they see the little community over there, what do we want them to think? When they think about us, do we want them to, you know, those people, they sure, they really know how to make good, uh, baked stuff or woodworking stuff. Uh, those people, they, uh, they've got some funny religious notions, but thankfully they don't believe in evangelism. I've had people tell me that I thought you guys didn't believe in evangelism. And, uh, no, that's, that's not true. Maybe we don't practice as much as we should, but we're learning. All right. And, um, so how do we want them to be known? Those kind of with those kinds of terms in terms of our baking and woodworking, or do we want them to say about us? Like they said about the apostles, these men have filled Jerusalem with their doctrine. These men have turned the world upside down. You know, we're not all called to build God's kingdom the same way, but we are all called to build God's kingdom to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness. Let's use those opportunities that God has given us. Go out and let your light shine. Be the salt of the earth that God has called you to be. Our King is coming soon. Let's prepare the way of the Lord. I think there's a song that says something like that. These are the days of Elijah preparing the way of the Lord. How long is it going to be? I don't know, but he's coming soon. Let's do what we can to let people know. Okay. Your name and where you're from, we're just going to take one question per person. Matthias Soberhold here from Sarasota. How has this affected your business? Are you self-employed, uh, when you show up at the job site and that sort of thing? First of all, what do you do, Roger? Okay. What I do for a living, I'm an accountant and I work for another CPA firm and, uh, they have put up with it. Um, they're, they're both professing Christ. They've actually, they've actually grudgingly encouraged it. Uh, how should I say that? Um, I've had some good comments from the place where you saw, where that van was parked along the busy intersection. That is where I said 5,000 vehicles go a day. That's actually parked like a quarter mile from where I work. So I park out on the busy street, walk back to most of the time. And, uh, so yeah, one time a newspaper saw the van there and they wouldn't come out and do an interview, big front page, not front page, second or third page newspaper article on it. And, um, I was curious every time something like that happened, I was curious, what's my boss going to say, or my bosses, it's a partnership I work for, but so far they've been supportive. Um, so far, so. Mark Miller, Ohio. Uh, I noticed on a few of them, you had a website and then also a phone number on a couple of them. Do you encourage that? Or do you get some hits on that website? If it was my own website, watchman, gospel signs.com. I definitely get hits on there. I think we're like at two 50, 300 a month average. Um, and some of the other websites were like creation websites, answers in Genesis and so forth. Um, Christina ministries has a toll free number and some of the vehicles, some people want to put their number on there. They've definitely got some calls on there on the, on that, that were, uh, less than pleasant. Um, so people respond. Yeah, they do respond. And it's a good, I think it's great to have some sort of follow-up. If, if people want to search more, it's like we hand out tracks and I do the same thing on that. Just put a website on there. If somebody wants to find out, you know, more about what we believe and search, you know, have some links to other places. So Marvin Yoder, Dade city. I don't have a question, but just a word of encouragement. My wife and I lived in Homestead, Florida for 11 months and the public transportation buses down there have advertisements of all kinds. I saw advertisements for homosexuality for a dance studio for beer and all kinds of things like that. If they can be bold, why can't we be bold and do the same thing? Amen. We'll take this one last question and then we'll go for lunch. Would like to have Randy share a, Randy O'Brien share a testimony. Randy, we'll wait till we get a few more moments. They're ready to eat back there. Your name? Chester Weaver, LaGrange, Indiana. I had a friend that encouraged me to put one of these signs along the interstate. I live right along the interstate and it's been burdened me for years. Why can't my property have a sign? But I was always afraid of the law. What would the law say? My friend says, different people interpret the law differently. Put it up and then you'll find out how they interpret the law. So I put it up, a sign up, a real simple, I'm not a very wealthy man. And so he helped me, we built an eight foot by 44 foot sign for $300. And he helped me get a little decals, just kind of put little like digital lettering. It says repentchristians.org. And if you go to that website right now, there's a very interesting video that goes along with that. And the answer to the question, do people respond to look at that? Yes, they do. And for a while, it was 15 hits, I think per week or per day. I'm not sure which it was. It's a little less now. It's time to change a sign, but it is effective. Wow. Praise the Lord. There's one question probably that everybody's thinking in their minds. I'll ask it for you. What will my friends think if I put these signs on my vehicle? I'll tell you what they'll think. They'll think you're crazy. Just so you know that. Get that out of the way. And so deal with that and then you'll be fine. Thank you so much. Thank you, Roger. Appreciate that. If you have more questions, ask him afterwards. I think this is wonderful. We need to be challenged and we need to think outside the box, ask questions. And I just appreciate each one of you who have asked questions and had thoughts. God bless you.
