Sermon Summary
Phil Beach Jr. emphasizes the profound love of God and its transformative power in the lives of believers. He explains that true obedience to God stems from being filled with His love, which empowers us to live according to His commandments joyfully. Beach encourages the congregation to recognize their identity as children of God, heirs to His love and grace, and to actively seek a deeper relationship with Him. He illustrates this relationship with the analogy of a wealthy father, highlighting that everything God has is available to His children. Ultimately, he calls for believers to immerse themselves in God's love, which fulfills the law and leads to genuine obedience.

I was born that he had the privilege of preaching to the nations that they could become part of the body of Christ by trusting in Jesus. Now listen to this, for this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant you, now that's you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, that ye being rooted and grounded in love, rooted and grounded in love, that means held secure by love divine, held secure. Now he doesn't stop there, that you may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, the length, the depth, and height, and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God. Now isn't that incredible? Not only does God reveal himself as love in the person of Jesus Christ, but he invites us to come to Jesus and there be ever filled with the fullness of that love and know that love. So that love is not just something objectively somewhere far off that you look at, love that you actually experience and begins to permeate your very being. How many want to be baptized into God's love? You know what it means to be baptized, you don't. Well can you imagine being immersed and dunked into God's love? Isn't this what Paul's saying? I mean, he's not saying it that way, but this is another way to understand it. Paul's saying, I pray that you'll be actually, entirely, completely immersed and dunked into God's love, so that everywhere you turn, God's love surrounds you. Now brethren, that's generic, which means sisters and brothers. This is an incredible invitation for you and I tonight, isn't it? To know the love of God. Now here's something too I want to share. Now there's a great struggle in Christianity today regarding obedience to God. We know that God wants us to obey him, but we find it very difficult to obey God. Here's why. The only way that you can obey God is if your obedience, listen closely, is the result of God's love exploding in your heart. I'll say that again. The only way that you can obey God, how many here want to obey the Lord? How many here say, oh Lord, I know that your word teaches if you love me, you'll keep my commandments. Now listen, here's the secret. If you want to be an obedient child of God, then be filled with the love of God. Listen, you cannot separate love and obedience. God's love, by nature, is the one that's working in your heart, obeys God. By nature. You cannot have God's love residing in you and fail to find the power to obey God. The reason why we fall so short of obedience in this generation is because we have alienated ourselves from the love of God and are trying to obey God with the promptings and power of the human heart, which is totally, totally fruitless. Totally fruitless. You cannot obey God by taking the bootstraps and saying, I'm going to obey God. No, you are not going to obey God. You cannot obey God. But, you can be filled with God's love and empowered by love divine and the very power of God's love working in you enables you to obey through the power of Jesus Christ. See, I like this Christianity. I like this because this Christianity is constantly taking our attention off of ourselves. It's constantly taking our attention off of trying to find something within ourselves to do it, and it's bringing us back over and over and over again to the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus speaks a lot about obeying him, but you'll notice that Jesus never speaks about obedience independent of love. There's the secret. If you love me, you'll keep my commandments. If you love me, you'll do what I tell you. If you love me, you'll obey me. So therefore, may I suggest tonight that if you want to be an obedient child of God, you ask God to fill you with his love, and you will find one of the marvelous attributes of divine agape love bubbling in your heart will be obedience to God. Obedience that is not grievous, but joyous. Now, is that a package deal or what? And here God says, it's not a package deal. It's free. It's free. It's yours. I want to know the love of God. I'm saddened when I displease my Lord, but I'm always encouraged when I get on my knees because when I get on my knees and I say, oh Lord, I don't want to displease you. I want to obey you. The Holy Spirit begins to shed abroad in my heart the love of God, and then I realize what God is saying to me. The more I love him, now when I talk about love here, the more I love him, I'm not talking about a love from my human heart. I'm talking about a love that comes from heaven and is put in my heart. It's God's love. The more God's love can increase in my life, then the less I will displease my Lord. And the more I will by the power and sufficiency and enablement that comes from God, please God, what victory. What is your answer and my answer tonight? Being filled with the love of God. Did you know the Bible says that love perfectly fulfills the requirements of the law? Did you know that perfect love cannot break the law? Tell me what you can do being motivated by God's love that would displease God. Anyone think of anything? What could God's love do to displease God? Absolutely nothing. The Bible says love works no harm to its neighbor. You can't hurt people if you walk in love. Now, they may be offended by love, but that's not you hurting them. You see that? Love. Boy, do I want to know God's love this evening. Anybody else have anything they'd like to sing, like to share? I was a rich father. I mean rich. I mean, I'm talking about yachts. Huh? Yeah, I'm talking about Donald Trump rich. Now listen here. There's going to be an analogy drawn that is going to stir your heart. If I was a Donald Trump rich and my daughters got old and they grew up and they became adults, and I was a rich father, and they began to realize how rich I was, and then one day I sat them down and I said, hey, what's mine is yours. And they suddenly realized by virtue of being my children, not by anything they did, by virtue of being my children, they suddenly realized that what was mine was theirs for the enjoying. Wouldn't that be incredible? Wouldn't it be incredible to see the look on a child's face when suddenly the child wakes up and says, wow, everything that's daddy's is mine to enjoy. Okay, now listen closely. God is the father of all those who have trusted in Jesus Christ. He's our heavenly daddy. Now listen. Everything that he is is ours for the enjoying. Everything. That means he doesn't have love to keep it to himself. He wants to share it with his children. It's yours for the asking. Whatever God is, because we are children by faith in Jesus Christ, God has delivered us out of the kingdom of darkness. He has translated us right out of the power of sin and Satan and has placed us into the kingdom of God, which is the kingdom of his dear son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and we have become automatic heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ Jesus, which means everything that God is, his splendor, his love, his peace, his majesty, his beauty is ours to enjoy. May I ask child of God, what are you doing with your inheritance tonight? Maybe you're just coming aware that now that you're a child of God, you're a legal heir and being a legal heir means you can come to your father and say, Lord, you are love and I'm loveless. May I share in my inheritance now? Would you be kind enough Lord to give me the love that comes from your heart? And you know what God will do? He will shout. He will joy over you and he will say, yes, yes, it's yours. Peace. He will joy over you. He is our peace. Are you a child of now? Listen, if you're not a child of God tonight, if you're not washed in the blood, if you're not sure that Jesus is your savior, then you can't claim any of this because you need to become a child first. You see, if you're not a child, then you're not an heir and if you're not an heir, then you're not a partaker and you become a child by placing your faith in Jesus, trusting in him. God will save you then when you turn from your sin. God will save you. Then you become a child and it's all yours. Just think about it, beloved. What would many Christians do if they could get Trump's last name and exchange it for their last name? You know what I'm saying? What if all of a sudden we could become an heir of Donald? Probably a lot of people, the first thing they'd do is they'd contact him, send him a telegram and say, hi, dad. We would. We'd say, hi, can I get to know you? Then you'd go to his house and you'd look around and your heart would begin to pound and you'd start saying, hmm, I wonder which one of these he's going to give me. Or I wonder, I wonder, I bet you, hey, if I ask, he'll send me to Europe. Do you see the human illustration to illustrate the spiritual truth? Beloved, if we're children of God, we've got a much greater daddy than Donald. And it may disappoint him to know that. I don't know. But we've got a much greater daddy than Donald Trump. And he wants us, in a spiritual way, to be just as excited or more excited as a sinner would. You talk to most people, and if you told them a way that they could make a couple million dollars, my God, they would go through all kinds of trouble to make it, wouldn't they? Even a lot of Christians would, because they haven't been freed from the love of money. But nevertheless, God wants us to be just as excited to know that as children of God by faith in Jesus Christ, we are heirs of God. God is our Father. And therefore, we have become legally His, and we have a right to what He is in exchange to our old life. So now we can see the impact of 2 Corinthians 5.17. Behold, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away. You're out of Adam now. You're in Christ. Behold, all things have become new. You have laid before you a glorious inheritance full of the treasures and riches of Christ Jesus. And it's the will of the Holy Spirit to so stir you and so awake you, to awake you, to awake me out of the sleep and slumber of falling so short of appropriating what's ours in Christ. The Holy Spirit wants us to awake thou that sleepest and arise and let Christ share with you your inheritance, the fullness of what He is, and it's yours for the asking. Is this stirring a desire in you to want to get alone with God and say, Father, I never saw myself as an heir, but tonight, Lord, I want to start asking. Make me more like Jesus. Give me peace. Give me love. Give me joy. That's what's doing in me. I don't know about you. I feel like running in the back now and start praying. I feel like running in the back now and get on my knees and say, Father, I'm a child. I want to be more like Jesus. Give me your love. I hope this is what's doing to you because it's yours in Christ tonight. He'll restore. He'll make new. He'll heal. He'll do all those things. That's what He's come to save us for, to make us new people. Wow. Anybody else? I want to be a hog.
