Sermon Summary
In this sermon, the speaker discusses the disciples' lack of understanding and belief in miracles, despite witnessing and participating in them. The speaker refers to the account in Matthew where Jesus feeds thousands of people in the wilderness, performing miracles of healing and provision. However, the disciples' hearts were hardened, and they did not fully comprehend the significance of these miracles. The speaker also mentions another episode where Jesus feeds 4,000 people, hoping that the disciples would finally understand, but they still did not grasp the message. Jesus then forces the disciples into a boat, possibly feeling disappointed by their lack of faith.

Do you really believe in miracles? ¿Cree usted en los milagros? I said, did you really believe in miracles? ¿Realmente creen los milagros? I didn't ask you if you believed in miracles. I asked you if you really believed in miracles. No le pregunté si creían los milagros. Le pregunto si realmente creen los milagros. We say that, and then when we get in our next problem, we say, God, where are you? In the 14th chapter of Matthew, en el libro de Mateo, el capítulo 14, Jesus goes off into a desert place. He has just heard that John the Baptist has been beheaded. Juan el Bautista acaba de ser decapitado. And thousands of people follow Jesus into the wilderness. And they're with Him for three days. Y están con Él por tres días. They must have slept out in the open. Y algo debe haber sucedido. If you had been there when Jesus fed that multitude, y si usted hubiese estado con Jesús en ese momento, and you pictured the scene, y usted pudiera ver esta escena, you saw people coming on homemade push carts. Usted podría ver a la gente viniendo hacia Él. You see people carrying their friends on their backs. And you see people whose bodies are all crippled up. And you're standing there watching that. Y si usted estuviera parado viendo esta escena, and you see all these miracles, y usted viera todos estos milagros que Jesús está haciendo, and then you say, I will never doubt God again. Look at the cripples leaping and jumping. Usted podría ver a los enfermos paralíticos saltando y caminando. Look at the blind, their eyes are being opened. The deaf are hearing and screaming and rejoicing. Los sordos oyen y comienzan a alegrarse y a regocijarse. The disciples looked on this. His twelve disciples. Sus discípulos, sus doce discípulos. And you think if you were one of them, y usted imagínese que fuese uno de ellos, I would never doubt Jesus again. I would always believe in his miracle power. Then on top of all of that, pero añadiendole a esto, Jesus said to his disciples, Jesús le dice a sus discípulos, I won't send them away hungry. Voy a enviarlos a ellos. We're going to feed them. Five thousand people. Y alimentaron cinco mil personas. Five loaves and fishes are turned into food to feed the multitude. These had to be dry fish, dried fish. Y esto era un pescado seco. Or they would have been smelling. O un pescado que estaba maloliente. And you watch Jesus feed all these multitudes. And you say, I will never doubt God again. Jesus tells his disciples, pick up the fragments. They picked up those twelve baskets. Toman doce paquetes, doce canastas. I wonder if they understood. Y yo me pregunto si los discípulos estaban entendiendo. After about fifty, one hundred baskets, después de ver todas estas canastas llenas, the miraculous is gone. It just looks so natural. Se ve tan natural. One piece of bread at a time. And they're so busy coming and going. And it's very clear when you read this account. Y cuando usted mira la escritura, They missed the miracle. They picked up twelve baskets of fragments. I suppose they were meant to... Jesus to show them something. I have enough to meet everybody's needs. But you're my church. Pero ustedes son mi iglesia. And I have an abundance for you. This is for you. También es para ustedes. Eat what you will. Coman todo lo que quieran. Do what I did. Hagan lo que yo hice. Go find someone still hungry. Give it to somebody poor. But Jesus, who knows the hearts, Pero Dios, Jesús, que conocía el corazón, He knew these men did not get it. They had seen and participated in a great miracle. And they didn't see or understand it. And Jesus takes His disciples aside. He takes them down to the seaside. And the Bible said, Y la Biblia dice, He constrained them, He forced them into a boat. The word in Greek, La palabra en griego, Means He forced them, Significa que el Señor los obliga, He constrained them, Les mueve, Get in the boat. Suban al bote. And I wonder what's going through the heart of Jesus. He must have shaken His head. Probablemente le estaba moviendo la cabeza. They don't get it. Ellos no lo entienden. They still don't believe. Todavía no me creen. They've seen the greatest miracle. Han visto un gran milagro. And they don't understand it. Pero todavía no lo entienden. He said, Get in the boat. El Señor les dice, Suban al bote. Just go. Suban. Go to the other side. Suban al otro lado del lago. And so they head out. Y dice la Biblia que ellos salieron. And in the middle of the night the storm came, you remember. And Jesus went to them walking on the water. The Bible said they thought it was a spirit. It was a ghost and they cried out. They saw Him and they were troubled. Lo vieron y se asustaron. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped Him. Y luego cuando el Señor vino a la barca, Saying of the truth, Ellos comenzaron a adorarlo. You're the Son of God. Because the wind stopped. Porque la tormenta se había detenido. Now you say, oh, now they believe. Ahora creyeron. He calmed the ocean. El calmó al viento. Now they're worshipping Him. Ahora le están adorando. Now they're calling Him the Son of God. Ahora le llaman Hijo de Dios. This is good. Esto es bueno. Now they understand. Ahora entienden. Now they believe in miracles. Ahora creen en milagros. No. No. Not at all. No para nada. In Mark there's an account of this same event. That suggests that this did not open up their faith. Mark said they were so afraid. Beyond measure. En gran medida. For they did not understand. Porque no entendieron. The miracle of the loaves. El milagro. For their heart was hardened. Porque su corazón estaba endurecido. In the word there is calloused. Thick skin. In spite of all the miracles. A pesar de todos los milagros. God's closest associates. Los discípulos que estaban cerca de Jesús. Those who were closest to the heart of Jesus. Did not understand. No entendían. The miracle of the loaves. You can say I believe in miracles. I believe that God can do the impossible. Yo creo que Dios puede hacerlo imposible. And still be emotionally hardened to the truth of it. So Jesus takes them into another lesson. This is at a later date. Esta es una oportunidad después. Another episode. Otro episodio. And this time 4,000 people are there. Y esta vez hay 4,000 personas. And Jesus says I'm going to feed them. This time he is convinced that these men are going to understand and are going to believe. This time they take up seven baskets full of fragments. And once again Jesus says get in the boat. They're going to cross the sea to Magdala. And Jesus knowing their unbelief. He said beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and scribes. And these disciples go into panic. Who forgot the bread? Y dicen ¿Quién se olvidó el pan? And they're talking to one another. Y están conversando el uno al otro. And the Bible said there was one loaf. And these men are arguing. Jesus is wondering where our bread is. Where are we going to get the bread? ¿Dónde vamos a conseguir el pan? Who forgot the bread? ¿Quién se olvidó el pan? Now you look at that scene. Ahora mire esa escena. You say, how blind can anybody be? Es ciego puede estar alguien. And Jesus looks at these men. Y Jesús mira a estos hombres. And this is what he says. Y miren lo que les dice. Don't you yet understand? No entienden todavía? Don't you remember? No recuerdan todavía? The five loaves and five thousand? How many baskets you took up? ¿Se recuerdan cuántas canastas sobraron? Do you not remember the seven loaves and the four thousand? And the baskets you took up? And listen to what Jesus says. How is it? ¿Cómo es posible? You still don't understand. How is it? ¿Cómo es posible? That you have seen miracle after miracle. Que han visto milagro tras milagro. And I've done so many miracle things in your life. Y he hecho tantos milagros frente a ustedes. And you don't understand. Y ustedes no lo entienden. You still don't get it. Todavía no lo comprenden. You still don't trust me. Todavía no confían en mí. Now why does Jesus connect their unbelief with the loaves and the fishes? Why didn't he think about the healing of the lepers? What about the palsied man? Why didn't he say you saw and heard of the palsied man that flamed for 38 years? What about the man that came down through the roof and couldn't walk? And he got up and walked. And all these miracles that happened before this occasion. He didn't remember, he didn't recall any of those. He tied their unbelief. El Señor Jesús va a unir la incredulidad de ellos Strictly to the loaves and the fishes. Why don't you remember the loaves and fishes? How is it that you have forgotten these miracles? When you go back and look at this scene Cuando usted vuelve y mira la escena otra vez It says, Jesus, this is back to the miracle of the loaves and the fishes. That bothered me for a while. Y esto me molestó por un tiempo. Jesus, of all the miracles you did Después de todos los milagros que Jesús hizo Why are you tying their unbelief into these two incidents of the loaves and fishes? We go back to Mark 15 Y podemos ir a Marcos capítulo 15 And examine why Jesus refers to these two miracles Y podemos examinar por qué es que Jesús está refiriéndose a estos dos milagros And it says this Y dice lo siguiente Jesus called his disciples to him and said El Señor Jesús llama a sus discípulos Because they continue with me for three days Excuse me Because they continue with me for three days Porque ellos aún, luego de tres días They have nothing to eat No tenían nada que comer And here's the key I will not send them away fainting No los voy a enviar así I will not let them faint on the way No los voy a dejar que vayan Sin nada Here's what Jesus I believe is saying Esto es lo que yo creo que Jesús está diciendo You know me Ustedes me conocen In my majesty Ustedes conocen mi majestad Ustedes me conocen en mi poder But if you know me in my power only Pero si ustedes me conocen solamente Basado en mi poder You will fear me Ustedes me van a tener temor But you won't know me There are a lot of people talk about the power of God Hay mucha gente que habla del poder de Dios Hay mucha gente que habla del poder de Dios But they don't know about his being a father to them Pero se han olvidado de que Dios también es un padre para ellos Pero se han olvidado de que Dios también es un padre para ellos They know him as a miracle worker For the world at large Lo conocen como un Dios que hace milagros They believe God can heal the sick Ellos creen que Dios tiene poder para sanar a los enfermos Ellos creen que Dios tiene poder para sanar a los enfermos They believe people can jump out of wheelchairs Ellos creen que Dios puede sanar y levantar paralíticos Ellos creen que Dios puede sanar y levantar paralíticos They believe God can judge nations for sin Creen que Dios puede traer juicio a las naciones por su pecado And they believe in the great and the mighty Ellos creen en cosas grandes And they have this fear of God Y tienen ese temor de Dios Pero no conocen a Jesús Who says, I'm not going to let you faint Que nos dicen, no voy a dejar que desmayen I'm interested in you Estoy interesado en ti Not just the multitude No solamente en la multitud But you're my son, you're my daughter Tú eres mi hijo, tú eres mi hija I show you miracles in my power Te he mostrado milagros en mi poder But I'm a man of compassion Pero soy un hombre de compasión I'm concerned about your welfare Estoy preocupado por lo que tú necesitas I'm concerned about your finances Estoy preocupado por tus finanzas I'm concerned about your marriage Estoy preocupado por tu matrimonio Yes, look up at the heavens Mira el cielo The sun and the moon and stars Ahí donde aparecen las estrellas y la luna And I know you're hungry Pero yo también sé que ustedes tienen hambre And I know you're about to faint Y yo sé que están por desmayar And I'm not going to let that happen to you Y no voy a dejar que desmayes If you will trust me Si tú confías en mí It's all about you Es acerca de ti Es acerca de mi amor por ti And that's what Jesus is saying Y es lo que Jesús está diciendo You trust me to still the winds and the waves Ustedes me confían a mí que puedo parar el viento y el mar But you don't trust that I'll give you bread Pero ustedes no me confían en que puedo poner pan en su mesa He said remember the loaves and the fishes El Señor Jesús le dice Recuerden lo de los panes y los peces He said remember the loaves and the fishes Recuerden lo de los panes y los peces So you have to partake of the miracle Usted tiene que entender este milagro The Bible says you shall not muzzle the mouth of the ox La Biblia dice que no debemos ponerle bozal al buey que trilla That treads out the corn Que no debemos poner obstaculos He said does God just take care of oxen Dice que si Dios tiene cuidado de los animales He said no it's for your sake I say this Pero no es que el Señor lo dice por eso sino por nosotros You have to partake of the miracle Usted es parte del milagro This is about God's love and concern for you Ese es el amor que Dios tiene que se preocupa por nosotros There are two kinds of miracles Hay dos tipos de milagros I mentioned this in one of my previous messages Lo mencioné antes There's the instantaneous Hay milagros instantáneos And the progressive Y hay milagros progresivos Now if you were there watching Jesus heal the sick Si usted estuviera viendo a Jesús sanar a los enfermos You're seeing instantaneous miracles Usted estaría viendo milagros instantáneos That must have been such a wonderful sight Debe haber sido algo glorioso You see people that have their knees bent and twisted And they become straight Ver gente que venía con sus piernas torcidas Y ver como el Señor las enderezaba I believe in instant miracles Creo en los milagros instantáneos I believe that when Elijah was hiding in the cave Creo que cuando Elías estaba escondiendo en la cueva I believe that there was thunder and lightning And I believe the rocks were shaking Dice la Biblia afuera de la cueva Hubo un terremoto y un temblor muy fuerte When God opened the Red Sea Cuando Dios abrió el Mar Rojo That happened instantly Eso pasó instantáneamente When Moses strikes through rock, water comes out instantly Cuando Moisés golpeó con su vara la roca, agua salió de la roca instantáneamente And that's what we want Y eso es lo que queremos We want the instant miracle Queremos los milagros instantáneos When our elders lay hands on the sick Cuando las personas ponen manos sobre los enfermos We want to see the instant miracle Y eso es lo que queremos, el milagro instantáneo I believe in instant miracles Yo creo en los milagros instantáneos I've seen instant miracles Yo los he visto How many times have you prayed for somebody? ¿Cuántas veces ha orado usted por alguien? And you haven't seen the instant miracle Y no ha visto el milagro instantáneo When I was a young preacher Cuando yo era un joven pastor I had a passion I prayed for the sick Oraba por los enfermos And I wanted to see instant miracles Y quería ver milagros instantáneos I said, why can't I go in a hospital? People with cancer Voy a orar por la gente con cáncer I want people to get out of their bed and be healed instantly Quiero que la gente que está enferma se levante de su cama y camine inmediatamente On one occasion I had a financial problem En una ocasión yo tenía un problema financiero I needed five thousand dollars desperately Necesitaba cinco mil dólares urgentemente And I looked in the Old Testament Y miré el Antiguo Testamento And I saw God sends angels Y veía como Dios enviaba ángeles One angel after another Un ángel tras otro The angel lord encamps around about them El ángel de Jehová acampa alrededor de los que le temen I said, God, I need a miracle Y yo dije, Señor, necesito un milagro I need five thousand dollars Necesito cinco mil dólares And I was living in a little town Yo estaba viviendo en una ciudad muy pequeña Pastoring a small church Pastoreando una iglesia pequeña And I said, Lord Y dije, Señor I'm walking down Front Street tomorrow Esto voy a caminar por la calle mañana And I'm asking you to send an angel Y te voy a pedir que me envíes un ángel And put an envelope in my hand Y pongas un sobre en mi mano For five thousand dollars Con cinco mil dólares Now some of you sitting there very excited He's going to get his five thousand dollars Muchos de los que están aquí están contentos Esperando que les diga En qué momento recibí los cinco mil dólares An angel came to Front Street Y ustedes están esperando que les diga Que un ángel me encontró en la calle And I got my five thousand dollars Y me dio los cinco mil dólares No No pasó eso I walked down Front Street Caminé por la calle Back and forth Fui y volví Nobody walks in a small town like that Nadie camina en una ciudad tan pequeña But here came a man Pero ahí vino un hombre I said, that's him Y yo dije, ese debe ser el ángel I have my miracle Ya tengo mi milagro I spoke the word Hablé la palabra And the word came to life Y la palabra se hizo carne I was already counting it in my mind Ya estaba contando el dinero en mi mente Then I noticed he was smoking a cigarette Luego noté que el hombre que venía estaba fumando un cigarro That can't be an angel Y dije, ese no puede ser un ángel I went home Volví a mi casa I said, God, where's my miracle?
