Sermon Summary
Phil Beach Jr. emphasizes that seeing God requires spiritual perception rather than physical sight, as exemplified by Jesus and the story of Jacob wrestling with God. He explains that true understanding of God comes through the Holy Spirit, who reveals our spiritual poverty and enables us to experience the riches of our inheritance in Christ. Beach highlights the necessity of confession and humility, as Jacob's encounter with God transformed him from a deceiver to Israel, a prince with God. The sermon encourages believers to seek a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit to unveil their true selves and experience the fullness of God's power and presence. Ultimately, the message is about the importance of having a pure heart to truly see God.

You don't look upon God with your natural eye. What Jesus was referring to was a visibility of God with your spiritual eye. Many people beheld the Son of God, but did not know that they were looking at God. The reason why is because you couldn't tell that Jesus was God just by looking at Him with your natural eye. He looked like any other ordinary man. That's hard to believe that God could so empty Himself from the glory of who He is and disguise Himself in the likeness of sinful flesh. That's hard for me to comprehend that the Almighty could look just like a mere man, but He did. So when Jesus said, Blessed are the pure in heart, He was talking about a people who would be able to perceive God by the Spirit of God. It would be an intuitive knowledge of God. This is in relation to Paul's prayer in the Ephesians. You remember that Paul prayed that the Ephesian believers, their eyes would be opened, the understanding of their eyes would be opened. Let's just turn there very quickly in Ephesians. And then we're going to go into the story of Jacob and we're going to read where Jacob wrestled with God. And something occurred in Jacob's life at that time which enabled him to partake in part in the experience of seeing God. Ephesians 1. Paul is speaking here about the glorious salvation that the believers have obtained through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1. He describes how God in Christ Jesus chose us before the foundations of the world and that He has revealed Himself to us through the preaching of the Gospel and we who have believed in God have received the Holy Spirit. And then in verse 11 of chapter 1, in whom also we have obtained an inheritance. Being predestined according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will. And of course, we want to note real quick here that the inheritance that we have obtained in Christ Jesus, we as believers must understand that this inheritance is not exclusively a futuristic thing. We've got to stop comprehending the inheritance as believers as a futuristic hope, although there is a futuristic hope in the believer's life. The hope of physical redemption. The hope of the Lord coming back again. The hope of being in heaven. The hope of eternally being with the Lord Jesus Christ. But now you have received an inheritance. Now is available to you all of the treasures that are hid in the person of Jesus Christ. And as we mentioned this morning, these treasures that are hid in Christ Jesus are only available to the believer as the believer receives a revelation from God and His Word and His Spirit regarding his spiritual poverty. You cannot appropriate by faith the riches of Christ into your life until there precedes, until there goes before the actual appropriating of a certain thing from God. There must go before that an unveiling of the poverty of self. And it's as the Holy Spirit continues to reveal our poverty, our spiritual poverty, that we then can experience His riches. And this entire inheritance that is available to the believer now, walking and living in the fullness of Christ, being energized by the very person of the Holy Spirit, being filled by the very power of God Himself, having the very hand of God form Christ in you so that you are led and motivated by that new man and the old man is rendered inoperative. In order for this glorious work, initiated and performed by God, to occur in your life on a daily, regular basis, it is absolutely necessary, it is absolutely expedient for the believer to experience a continued unveiling of spiritual poverty of self-life. And it's as we offer to God that confession of spiritual poverty, not an intellectual confession, I confess that I am weak. No, it's got to come from a revelation of God's Spirit. Just like Peter. Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And then Jesus looked at Peter and said, Blessed art thou, Simon, for flesh and blood has not revealed this unto you, but My Father which is in heaven. You see, the believer's confession has to go beyond a mere theology. It has to go beyond a mere orthodox that's lodged in the head. It's got to become a life revelation. It's got to be an unveiling of the Holy Ghost. Wow! Thou art the Christ! God has revealed that to you. Wow! My self, my own patience, my own abilities are worthless before God. There's your spiritual poverty confession. You see, there's no treasure in Christ until there's a recognition of poverty in self. This is why we see many believers are living very short of the inheritance that God has provided for them. It is absolutely expedient that the believer becomes acquainted with the person of the Holy Spirit and begins to actively experience a relationship with the Holy Spirit. He alone can make the Word of God a book of life. He alone can reveal to the believer the things of Christ. He alone can impart to the believer the appropriate grace that the believer needs. He alone can do it. And that is God's burden for you and I in this hour that we live in. God's burden. He alone can appropriate it. And here Paul experiences this burden. He is sensing this burden. And from this burden is the prayer that Paul is praying here. Verse 12, that we should be to the praise of His glory who first trusted in Christ, in whom ye also trusted after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also after that ye believed you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance, until the redemption of the purchased possession unto the praise of His glory. Wherefore I also after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and love unto all saints. So here Paul is addressing a body of believers who already have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and who have love one for another. So he's not addressing unbelievers here. He's addressing Spirit-dwelt, Spirit-filled Christians. But look what Paul sees as a need for these Christians. Look at this. Verse 16, I cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. The eyes of your understanding or the eyes of your heart, the eyes of your inner man, be enlightened. Now that word enlightened there is illuminated. Being illuminated, that ye may know what is the hope of His calling and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power. So here Paul is praying for two things to happen. That we could know and comprehend the greatness of the inheritance that is available to you as a believer. Now the inheritance is what is rightfully yours in Christ. All of what He is, the richness of His life and His character and His love and His beauty is yours to experience. It is yours to participate in. But can only be imparted to you through the operation of God through the Holy Spirit. That's the first thing Paul wants. And then the second thing is the mighty power that is working on our behalf. The mighty power. This mighty power, according to the Apostle Paul, verse 20, is the same power which God wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead. Beloved, let me ask you a question. Do you think that there was a great power that visited that tombstone on that resurrection morning that raised Jesus from the dead? Do you think it was a great power? Let me tell you something. You stick all of the hydrogen bombs in that cave and ignite them. And it probably would make quite a big of debris and mess, but it wouldn't have resurrected Jesus from the dead. There is a power in the tomb that literally caused Jesus to be raised from the dead. Now don't you disassociate yourself from that power anymore, because that's the same power working in you. It's the same, Norman. It's not different. It's the same power that is working on our behalf. And it's that power that enables us, listen, to appropriate and experience the inheritance. It's that resurrection power. Oh, beloved, when God can open up the eyes of our understanding and we can see what's available to us as heirs of God and join heirs with Christ Jesus, my God, that puts the devil to flight. That puts the flesh right down. You can find power to overcome fear and struggles as you concentrate on this great, mighty power that is working on your behalf. My God, this is awesome. Verse 20, which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. And hath put all things under His feet and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him, that filled all in all. So here God has done a great thing in the person of Jesus Christ. Now let's read on here. And you hath He quickened who were dead in trespasses and sins, wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prints of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience, among whom also we all had our conversation. Now the word there, conversation, means lifestyle. It's not simply what you say, but the word there, conversation, actually means your lifestyle, your entire way of life as unbelievers, Paul's saying, revolved around the principles of this world, the spirit in this world. You just simply allowed the spirit of this world to motivate you and to control you and to simply, you walked by the drum of this world. Verse 3, among whom also we had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ. By grace, ye are saved. Now listen, when the Bible says we were dead in sins, what it means is our spirit, we had a spirit. We were created body, soul, and spirit. But our spirit was dead to God. It was dead to God. It was dead by virtue of the sin that controlled us. Now here is the good news. You who were dead without God, alienated from Him, were made alive. Now what does that mean? That means that God breathed His Holy Spirit into your spirit and you suddenly became alive unto God. You became alive unto God. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians that if you belong to the Lord, you have become one spirit with Him. You've been joined together with Him. Oh, Lord. Help us, Lord, to see and comprehend. Now listen to this. Not only did God make us alive with Christ, verse 6, we're alive in Christ, but now something else, beloved. Watch. He hath raised us up together and made us sit down together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. So not only has God quickened you and made you alive, but spiritually speaking, you have been raised up with Christ and you are right now spiritually, not physically. Physically, you're in settinary college. That's not too hard to conclude. I'm not in heaven now. I'm on earth. Jesus said you are in the world, but you are not of the world. See, we are of heaven. Our citizenship is in heaven. That's what Paul said in Colossians. Our citizenship is in heaven. We are in the world physically, but spiritually, we are joined with Christ by the Holy Spirit. Wow. So my spirit is no longer bound to sin. See, before Jesus came into my life, my spirit was dead by virtue of the sin that controlled me. But God spoke and caused light to shine in darkness. That darkness was the darkness of me and you. God spoke. See, it's very important that we understand what has happened. This is what it means to be a new creation in Christ. I tell you, Christianity is more than theology. It is a living reality. It is an actual fact. I am a new creation. I am different constitutionally. That means I'm different inside than what I was before. God dwells in me. And spiritually, I've not only been made alive in Christ, but I have been raised with Him. See, that means that I am no longer bound to my old life. See, the resurrection of Christ meant that God nailed our old life to the cross. So if I've been raised with Christ, listen, positionally, I've been freed from the body of this sin. I've been freed from the captivity of the self-life, which has kept me bound. So here I am, a lost sinner. Grace shines in my heart. I cry out and say, God, have mercy on me, a sinner. God saves me. God quickens me. God washes me. God puts His Spirit in me. And God causes me to be raised up spiritually to sit down with Christ in a place of victory. Listen, what kind of place of victory is this? Verse 21, chapter 1, far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. That's the place that Christ was caused to sit down in, right? But where have I been caused to sit? With Christ. So spiritually, I am seated right now by the power of the Holy Ghost with Christ. And in Christ, I am above principality and power. In Christ, independent of Christ, I am nothing. But in Christ, I have been caused to share in His victory. So the work of the Holy Spirit... Now, this is what the inheritance of the saints is. The inheritance of the saints is appropriating experientially that which was wrought positionally the moment we believed. Oh my! How God longs to turn the light on in our spirits and calls us to comprehend. Now you see why Paul prayed the prayer? That the eyes of our understanding would be opened? That this could become something that is reality to us? That's why we so desperately need the Holy Spirit to move in our midst. You see, it's so much greater than just hearing and being taught. It's got to become an actual crisis with God on a daily basis. Now listen, we were going to speak about the pure in heart. See God. That was just a little foundation to let you understand how you can see God now. But it has nothing to do with your natural vision. How many here know of Fanny Crosby? You know she was blind. But boy did she have sight. She was the one who penned that beautiful song Turn your eyes upon Jesus and look forth into his wonderful face and the face of this earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace. Now why would a woman be telling people to turn their eyes upon Jesus? Could she turn her eyes upon Jesus? She was blind. Of course she could. Because she wasn't seeing Jesus with these eyes. She was seeing Jesus with the eyes of her spirit man. That new man. There's where God wants to give us 20-20 vision. You want 20-20 vision tonight? Listen, if you wear glasses, don't believe anybody if they say you can never have 20-20 vision. Because that's not the vision that counts. I admit it helps when you're driving. So you better keep them on. But as far as perceiving God, away with them. You'll never perceive God by your natural faculty. And religion in a whole has completely missed God because they're trying to come to God in their own strength, in their own wit, in their own mind, in their own excellence and Paul counted it but done. You can't know God apart from a spiritual perception of him. And that's what the Lord Jesus wants to do. But you know what that means? That means I gotta lower myself. I gotta humble myself. I gotta say, Lord, I'm really nothing. Do you like to say that? Lord, I'm really nothing. Boy, that feels good. I didn't say you're worth nothing. Don't misunderstand me. God doesn't make junk. You're very special to God. But you have to learn the lesson that apart from God, you can do nothing. All of your strength and struggle apart from God is futile. We're more dependent upon God than we could imagine. These are the eyes that God is focusing on. Listen, these were the eyes that were being opened this morning. I mean, everybody didn't even know they were at the eye doctor. I mean, there was a whole altar full of people and they were at the eye doctor. And you know, Jesus was going right into their spirits and anointing their eyes with eye salve. Remember the Laodicean church? What was the indictment that Jesus had? Thou sayest, I am rich and increased with goods and in need of nothing. But thou knowest not. But thou art wretched, blind, miserable, naked, and poor. Spiritual blindness. Thou knowest not. Jesus said in Matthew, chapter 5, Matthew chapter 5, we've read them, we've taught on them several times. We're probably going to continue to teach on them because these Beatitudes are perhaps one of the most precious things that the Lord Jesus ever spoke. They reveal to us the way to be rich in God. The way to be rich in God. We must experience spiritual poverty. Now Jesus said in verse number 8 of Matthew chapter 5, Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Now I want to invite you, just for a short time, Lord willing, to go to Genesis chapter 32. Genesis chapter 32. The Holy Spirit has placed this story in the Old Testament and I believe one of the reasons that God placed this story in the Old Testament was to give us an insight on the road the road that the believer needs to run on if he or she is going to see God. Now I want to invite you to begin reading in verse number 22 in chapter 32 of the book of Genesis and we're picking up where Jacob is about to meet his brother Esau and for 20 years Jacob and Esau had been enemies and God was going to bring Jacob face to face with his brother Esau and consequently Jacob was in pursuit after God, he was in pursuit after assurance that God was with him because he feared Esau He feared that Esau was going to kill him and as a result he had determined in his heart that he had to find God he had to get a touch from God that everything was going to be alright because in a few hours he was about to meet a man who could probably kill him very easily chapter 32 verse 22 Genesis and he rose up that night and took his two wives and his two women servants and his 11 sons and passed over the forward Jabbok and he took them and sent them over the brook and sent over that he had and Jacob was left alone now I want to stop right there Jacob was left alone the first the first crisis that must occur in the believer's life before the believer's spiritual focus can be tuned in and we can perceive God is we must through God's hand working in our life we must get alone with God there is a time when we are encouraged one by another there is a time when you are lifted up and encouraged by a brother or a sister in the Lord and there is a place for that but by golly there is a place also equally as important as the time when the believer is brought to a place where it's just you and God and nobody else see you and God and nobody else Jacob was left alone and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day and when he saw that he prevailed not against him he touched the hollow of his thigh and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint as he wrestled with him and he said let me go for the day breaketh and he said I will not let thee go except thou bless me and he said unto him what is thy name and he said Jacob and he said thy name shall be called no more Jacob but Israel for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men and hast prevailed and Jacob asked him and said tell me I pray thee thy name and he said wherefore is it that thou dost ask me after my name and he blessed him there now listen to verse 30 and Jacob called the name of the place Peniel for I have seen God face to face and my life is preserved now the word Peniel is a word in the Hebrew that comes from two different words here's what the two different words are the one word means to behold and the other one means the almighty face of God so this is what Jacob was saying I beheld the almighty face of God and my life was preserved Jesus said blessed are the pure in heart for they shall what behold the almighty face of God now here I believe the Holy Spirit can give us insight into what it is to have a pure heart now the word pure there simply means without mixture free from contamination and we find here that before Jacob was able to see God he had to wrestle with God not only did he have to wrestle with God but listen God had to touch his thigh and dislocate his flesh and then after that God asked Jacob one question here's what Jacob said here's what God said what is your name now let me tell you Jacob did more than say oh my name is Jacob what God did was God cornered Jacob God got Jacob alone and God began to deal with his inner life he began to deal with his inner life and began to put his finger on the self life and listen Jacob's hip was dislocated but it was after Jacob's hip was dislocated that Jacob was able to tell God his name now the word Jacob means a supplanter or a deceiver so what was Jacob doing Jacob was finally confessing to God who he really was see he wasn't just saying my name is Jacob he was saying what's your name are you ready to confess your name you've been 20 years with your uncle you've been under a taskmaster are you ready to confess your name are you ready to confess your character are you ready to confess that you're a deceiver and a liar are you ready to confess spiritual poverty see what the Holy Spirit was doing in Jacob's life bringing him to a place where he confessed who he was to God now listen it was this unresolved it was this unresolved confession that prevented Jacob from seeing God now listen what was the encounter that Jacob had before he went to his uncle Laban's house the latter God was there Bethel what did Jacob say God was here in what I knew it not Jacob was spiritually blind until he got alone the Holy Spirit dealt with him the Holy Spirit put his finger on the flesh life and the Holy Spirit dislocated it and then in a state of weakness God says you confess your name and listen what happened when Jacob confessed his name see God said what's your true character and Jacob said alright Lord I'm a deceiver I'm a supplanter I admit my heart's evil what was the thing God said then and he said verse 28 thy name shall be called no more Jacob what victory when the Holy Spirit can bring the believer in every area of the life to the place where we can honestly confess before God our utter inability when it's something that God works in us the very next thing that God does is he does that transformation that transforming power from glory to glory we're changed and he does the same thing and he says thy name shall be called no more Jacob whenever God corners you and gets a finger on an area in your flesh life and you are brought to the place by God where you confess it before him the very next thing that Christ does is the work of his redemption that he came to do and that's redeem you from the wretchedness of Jacob and put the Holy Ghost in you and cause that area of your life to be transformed and that is when you exchange poverty for riches that's when you exchange Jacob for Israel that's when you exchange the earthly for the heavenly, the carnal for the spiritual and there's the work of God in the life of the believer completely unable to occur unless the Holy Spirit comes back in the church and has his way this kind of stuff it cannot happen without the power of the Holy Spirit it can't happen the letter killeth but the spirit gives life and he said thy name shall be called no more Jacob but Israel for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men and hast prevailed that word prevailed do you remember reading that in the book of revelation talking about the lamb who prevailed and overcame friend do you want to prevail in every area of your life Jesus that's what the inheritance is you have in Christ the power to prevail in everything but remember before you prevail and become a prince with God in Christ you must first confess that you are a Jacob and you'll never reign with Christ now without confessing the wretchedness of the Jacob in you but here's the thing you'll never know the Jacob in you unless you become acquainted with the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit alone can shine the light and show you the state of your heart even the word of God without the quickening power of the Holy Spirit cannot help you that's why Paul said it is the ministry of life that God had given to him so perhaps I gave you a little more insight on blessed are the pure in heart all the volumes that Jesus was saying when he simply made the statement blessed are the pure in heart I wonder if Jesus had Jacob in his mind because let me tell you God wants you to be able to understand the joy of I have seen and I see the almighty face of God but here's the thing and I do not die I am preserved I can see God and I'm not consumed all my friends I want to see God and I thank God for the ministry of the Holy Spirit that can enable me to see him and he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him and he halted upon his thigh what a glorious morning that was the sun rose upon him and he halted upon his thigh God needs to touch the hollow of our thigh beloved he needs to dislocate our flesh life so that we can be a prince with God in Christ and participate in that glorious life that's available right now for the believer this is what I'm asking God to do in all of our lives blessed are the pure in heart for they shall cross the book Jabbok alone and they'll wrestle until they hear God say what is your name and with sincere heartfelt conviction confess and then in a moment's time the precious dove of God will speak life and transform you and change you and cause you to possess that glorious inheritance that's in Christ Jesus according 2 Peter 1 verse 3 according as his divine power hath given unto us all things now see this is a description of the inheritance right here in 2 Peter a description of the inheritance according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises where you could say whereby are given unto us exceeding and exceeding great inheritance that's what the promise is the inheritance listen that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust do you see that by like Paul prayed to the Ephesians by understanding the inheritance and by experiencing that power that resurrection power by these things we escape the corruption of the flesh the lusts of the flesh and we actually begin to partake and share in the very life of Christ himself walking in newness of life being energized from a spirit that the world knows nothing about being freed from the influence of the god of this world I tell you when this stuff starts happening your home becomes a sanctuary and god cleanses it you don't let the spirit of rebellion come into your home and you don't let the spirit of rebellion get on you and when it does you deal with it this is the place this is the territory where Christ reigns as king of kings and lord of lords and his scepter is the scepter upon the throne of your heart verse number 5 and besides this giving all diligence add to your faith virtue if these things be in you and abound they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of the lord Jesus Christ wow here Peter is saying friends I don't want you to be barren and unfruitful you see as Christians we can be barren and unfruitful the devil so shrewd all he does is he creates a pseudo Christianity called religion he ostracizes the Holy Spirit out of the midst tells god what to do when to do it and takes the influence of the Holy Spirit and the power of the Holy Spirit to energize the word of God and there right there you've got barrenness and unfruitfulness see but God's Holy Spirit can't be stopped isn't that good news Joanne she just had a glow from ear to ear isn't it good we're not ending on a negative note tonight sure there's a war everywhere you go everywhere you look everywhere the captivity of the enemy is seen but God but God is still on the throne and he's moving by his spirit enlightening and stirring sincere hearts hearts that will love himself hearts that will go to the Lord and the Lord alone and let God be God he that lacketh these things is blind and cannot see afar off and hath forgotten he was purged from his own sins wow God have mercy help us Lord we so want to honor the Lord Jesus Christ we so want to honor the Holy Spirit we want to honor the word of God we want to be like children once again and let him come and fill our hearts with Jesus Amen oh how God wants to fill our hearts with Jesus so beloved I want to encourage you to continue to allow the Lord to move in your life move in your heart my mother I thought about something she said this morning God's doing a great work in mom and dad doing a great work showing them his love and usually mom is real quiet about things you know she came walking out she came walking out of service and she looked at Suzanne and said boy Suzanne the Holy Spirit is really doing something in there and Suzanne just couldn't believe that she said that because you know for mom she just usually hi how you doing gives you a hug or something but boy she knows God is really doing something in their life isn't it great to be under the influence of God I love to talk about the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit is a friend he knows Jesus so well and he never speaks of himself I tell you it would be so good as a believer to say father would you teach me to know the Holy Spirit the person of the Holy Spirit is so lovely just a few days ago in the car I was talking with someone and they had told me that the economy in Massachusetts was falling and I thoughtlessly foolishly said well thanks to Michael Dukakis and oh the person of the Holy Spirit was angry at me and right there the Holy Spirit checked me and said how dare you speak against a man that you don't even know you don't even know what you're talking about and I swallowed and I said oh thank you Holy Spirit thank you Holy Spirit and then I confessed right to the brother I was talking to was it you Norman it must have been Joe somebody I said forgive me because I slandered Michael Dukakis and I shouldn't have I don't know the man how do I know it's because of him it's not because of him it's because of God God's the one that's breaking the economy get to know the Holy Spirit He alone is the one that can show you Christ He's such a gentleman He chides you if you're not kind to your wife He does He gives you love He gives you patience He comforts you He talks to you He wants to He wants to reveal the things of Christ to you He's God He has eternal fellowship with God Just think in the beginning just making it human the father looked down upon the world and cried and said oh the world is lost then the son spoke up and said I'll go and then the Holy Spirit says when you leave I'll go they love us so much God loves us so much the Holy Spirit is all God all deity He is deity He's a blessed dove He speaks of Christ He honors the son and then you go to the son and the son honors the father then you go to the father and the father honors the son it's just so wonderful the unity and the harmony of the Godhead the eternal fellowship of the father and the son and how we can share in that fellowship now oh how precious and then God leaves us His word the Holy Spirit is the one who authored the word the Bible says that scriptures were not written by the will of man the man didn't sit down and say well I think I'm going to tell a story no holy men of God were moved upon by the blessed Holy Spirit and they wrote and the Bible that we have today is the word of God the infallible word of God the only source of knowledge that we have the only living record that is purely true with no error that teaches us all about God and His plan for humanity and the Holy Spirit can quicken it but you know man in his natural reads the Bible and they've messed up and they've created such confusion so God gets a hidden book that is revealed to babes just little babes so I encourage you just to get to know the Lord to know the Holy Spirit cast your burdens on Him don't don't don't throw Him out of your life ask Him to come He's gentle He's not intimidating He's not like a person people are so impatient with us aren't they sometimes we're so impatient with people the Holy Spirit's not like that sometimes we're afraid to let someone know what we really are because we're afraid they won't like us as much how many have experienced that you don't want someone to know how you really are because you're afraid they might reject you Holy Spirit's not like that you don't have to be afraid He already knows you anyway but you don't have to be afraid He's not going to leave you because all of a sudden this wretched part of yourself is exposed no, He's going to come and say well this is why the son died you see Christ died for us while we were yet sinners is that good news while we were yet sinners He died for the ungodly I want Him to soften my heart I want Him to soften me and break me and mold me and melt me and just fill me with His love what do you think Mary Mary Mary Ann Mary that's a good idea I like that isn't that what you want isn't that what you want the Lord to do uh huh huh well praise the Lord that's good you know I'm reminded here in Isaiah this is a good scripture Isaiah chapter 6 now listen to this now Isaiah chapter 6 in the year that King Uzziah died I also the Lord, I saw the Lord now listen I like what Mary said when you really see the Lord when you really have your eyes upon the Lord the first thing you see is His glory and His holiness and His beauty and then verse number 5 the very next thing woe is me so when you get preoccupied with God you will not become preoccupied with finding the faults of other people but you will become preoccupied with your eyes seeing the holiness of God the wretchedness of self and appropriating the power available to you as a believer and what you will find is when you begin to look through the eyes of Jesus you'll find first of all love covers a multitude of sins you will stop judging people you will stop being critical of people and you will find an incredible patience an incredible long suffering and you will find your greatest comfort after spending a day with people is being able to pray for everyone you met you'll begin to take such joy in praying for people you'll just get to praying and praying Lord bless so and so and oh God bless so and so and Lord help so and so and this and that you're not going to be finding people's faults you're going to commit people to God because you're going to become aware how merciful God was to you and when you experience the mercy of God you want everyone to experience it so that's good that's very good that's what happens when the Holy Spirit begins to deal with us we stop looking for the trouble out here somewhere and we ask God to begin to deal with our own self our own heart anybody else have anything they'd like to share I was very long winded today huh this morning and now tonight I don't know
