Well, it's good to be back with you again today on Eagle's Wings. Let me share a verse with you from Psalms, Psalms 57 Where the psalmist said, Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me for my soul trusteth in thee Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge until these calamities be overpassed I will cry unto God most high and to God that performeth all All things for me. Psalms 57 1 and 2. Well, I trust that you've been letting God Lead you and direct you that you've learned how to fly on Eagle's wings You've learned how to live by the grace of God that God's grace is sufficient for every need. It's good to be back It seems like such a long time Well, we're in a ground war In more ways than one, we're in warfare. The church is in a battle as well as the world The world is striving for peace. And of course, we know that there will be no peace until the king sits on the throne in Jerusalem And the king, of course, is the Lord Jesus Christ He's the one that will bring peace to this world Just yesterday. I was giving a Sun School lesson in the church They were in and we were covering the passage in Matthew 25 31 through 46 where Jesus shared the story about how They would be judged the judgment of the nations those individuals would be judged on the basis of how they treated the believers and They would say Lord When did we see you naked or when did we clothe you or when were you sick and we took care of you? When were you in prison we visited you and and he said The king said unto them Verily I say unto you in as much as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren you've done it unto me and We discussed the fact that it was very important that We pay attention to the Jewish people. They are God's chosen people. He's not set them aside Israel is very important and God and in in his time and it may be very soon is going to come back again and Establish the kingdom with Israel that he promised But until then we're to pay attention to God's chosen people and the thing that was brought out to to us was that in the tribulation period They're going to demonstrate the fact those that get saved whether or not they have life or not By the way that they treat God's people and specifically the Jewish people Because those that are saved are not going to take the mark of the beast and the book of revelation Teaches us that those that do take that mark of the beast will not be able to go to heaven They will seal their soul to eternal damnation in hell. And so those that don't take the mark of the beast Will will have to get food some way they won't be able to buy or sell because they don't have that mark And so those that have mercy those that have compassion Those that are tender-hearted towards the believers, especially the Jewish believers will be able to enter in Because of the way they treated those people and the thing that I Noticed it one of the great commentators of our time Ironside said about this passage in Matthew 25 in verse 40 about the brethren These my brethren he said in the in its strictest sense The brethren here will be part of a Jewish remnant in the last days who would be witnesses for God in the dark days of the time of Jacob's trouble the Great Tribulation as The King's messengers go through the world. There will be some who receive them and believe their message These are the sheep The term brethren is used in a special sense for there are three classes sheep Goats and my brethren those of Israel related to Christ according to the flesh. These are the brethren They're related to Christ according to the flesh and also according to the Spirit They will be his authoritative witnesses in the tribulation. And of course those of you that are Familiar with prophecy know that there will be a hundred and forty four thousand Jewish male evangelists in the book of Revelation chapter 7 you You have those facts laid out to you and the point that I wanted to bring out to you is that it's very Important for us today that are Christians to be involved in Jewish evangelism Reaching the Jews because we I believe may very well be pumping our money into evangelistic Outreaches that are preparing these hundred and forty four thousand to receive Christ as their Savior After the rapture their eyes are going to be opened we enter into a different dispensation the dispensation of the church age is gone and we enter into a bit different time period where God again is dealing with the with the nation of Israel directly and these hundred and forty four thousand will be his witnesses They will primarily be the ones carrying the gospel and literally hundreds of thousands will be saved I believe during this period of time. So what is our responsibility today? I believe it's to get out the message to the Jewish people. So you be praying for the peace of Jerusalem and Of course, there will be no peace till the King comes But you be praying praying for the peace of Jerusalem and asking God what he would have you to do in supporting Jewish Missions if you don't know what to who to give to you can write to me I can give you several different organizations that are Soul-winning organizations involved in getting the gospel out to the Jewish people. Well, do you believe in revival? I certainly do I sat in a church service last night where Revival has been going for almost a year here and I was interested particularly in this service last night Because the pastor was gone off on to a trip with other pastors. He's speaking somewhere out and in Washington I think it's Tacoma Where there's about 60 pastors involved together in a in a revival movement where they've been praying for God to work And so I wonder what's it going to be like when this pastor is gone from his own church where revival has been going on Are these people gonna just sort of hold back go to other churches not attend much while the pastor's gone. So I was interested yesterday was a key day as far as I was concerned and What I saw Was revival last night in the service here in this church where I'm recording right now God worked in revival I saw one family got up the husband and wife got up the wife asked for forgiveness from the church for going back on a commitment that she had made public that she would do as a Result of the revival last spring. She had told God that she had quit working Well, she went back to work and God has dealt with her and both her husband and her had decided they would quit their jobs He's gonna start working on his own He's a mechanic and been working for for an outfit where he is literally told that he could not say anything about Jesus Christ and so she said she was going to quit her job. He was quitting his and They were just sharing how God was dealing with him her on her disobedience She asked for forgiveness from the body of Christ and the body responded that they forgave her Another young man got up that has just been saved. I would say I don't know in about a month ago Mike Mike got up and and shared just a teenager in high school Got up and shared how he had just led several members of his family to Christ around the table Just this this week this type of stuff is going on Somebody else got up and asked for forgiveness for the from the body for something that she had done This is continuous revival. The church is not perfect It's full of full of people and if your church is full of people then it's not perfect but these people are striving to go on with Christ and they're not hiding things if they if they try it doesn't work and God is dealing With folks in this town I have never been in a place where continuous revival has continued as it has here and we're praying for this for America. I Am committed to this pastor and working with this pastor working out of his church helping him because we both have a vision for America We both have a burden for pastors to see God work To see God work in your church is my prayer and I'm praying for you pastor. I'm behind you You may think I'm after you sometimes. Well, if you're in sin, you're not doing things, right? I'm gonna be after you God's after you but I'm after you for your good I praise the Lord for some pastor friends of mine that came after me And they said they came in fear and trembling because they knew I was a tough character Well, I'm a character. All right, and I may be tough in the flesh But boy, they came after me and they nailed me on some things They loved me Only the one that loves you will confront you and we're not much for playing games I think our game playing days are about over, you know, there's two things I've just been reading a little bit in a book an old book. It's the oldest one I have on revival it's called revival sketches in manual by Humphrey and this one was put out by the American Tract Society in 1859 and it goes over revival history up to the time of 1859 and we know that there was a major awakening about that time 1857 and so he this author brought it all the way up to date and he started in the Old Testament He just shared some things on revival Before I get into our little study today on the cross and the life of Moses and the desert survival series Which is what I'm trying to do every week is share with you a little bit of practical teaching on the cross Which is the basis of revival the revival will bring you to the cross Where self is crucified and Christ is alive your life has changed You're cleansed But in this thing on the revival sketches of the past I've been reading looking for clues and evidences of revival traits of revivals and things and and he says and right off to the To the start. He says what is a revival? Well, that's a good question. I Never knew what a revival was until I'd been in one I was praying for revival, but I didn't know what it was and when it hit I didn't realize it would hit so hard because I got ran over God the Holy Spirit ran over me and and ripped me apart told me I was bitter and he's continued That's been been Six years ago almost six years ago this May April and May God has continued to just run all over me even this morning in my time with the Lord I was just telling him I was amazed how he would even want to use me Like Paul, he said I know there's no good thing in me. So what is a revival? They answered a temporary religious excitement however high it may rise which does not go down into the hidden man of the heart and Stir up the depths of the soul to the to the earnest inquiry What must we do to be saved is not a true revival of religion Humphrey said a genuine revival is the fruit or effect of a supernatural divine Influence which restores the joy of God's salvation to backsliding Christians Startles the dead and trespasses and sins Convinces them of their loss and perishing condition and makes them willing in the day of God's power. Have you seen a revival? You know, you're setting up your revival meetings for this spring You got so-and-so lined up to come up to he's going to come Sunday through Wednesday And then you're going to call it a revival. You're going to get a couple people saved Maybe somebody might deal with some sin if you really have some excitement and somebody repents of some sin But generally it's the same old thing every every year Four days we're going to give God if and if you're really spiritual you're going to give them a week when's the last time you saw one that went like the one here that went for for nine and a half weeks and Then this preacher has learned some principles on how to keep it going and boy. We've had a lot of things happen Have you seen revival? Humphrey went on to say In the church There is a genuine revival when she rises and shakes herself from the dust and puts on her beautiful garments Which have been laid aside to her great discomfort and reproach in a congregation there is a true revival when impenitent sinners in considerable numbers are awakened and converted within a few days or weeks and Many are added to the Lord as of such as should be saved In their essential nature and effects all genuine revivals are alike and I would say that's true. Have you seen revival? Have you experienced it? Many of the old-time pastors maybe can tell us of revivals in the past But most of the things that we have today that we call revivals are just evangelistic services Where the church tries to do in one week what she's supposed to been doing out of obedience all year long Are you seeing people saved? Week after week after week week this young fellow. I shared with you about he got saved in a nursing home as There's a couple in our church that God has called them and by faith they just go into the nursing homes in this area about ten and This young man was there working there and sitting and listening week after week to the word being preached and he got saved I mean he really got saved because he loves Jesus now and he's telling others about Jesus There's so many that think they've been saved But if you're not telling about Jesus and and he's not of any real concern to you. I would say You may not be saved It's easy to say that you're a Christian while I was baptized in the church. I I'm a member of the church. I give to the church or my grandfather was a preacher Whatever you think but unless you have been brought personally face to the face with the fact that you are a sinner and lost and going to hell without Christ and you repent of your sin and receive him as your Savior and Your life has changed. You now have a hunger for the Word of God. You love Jesus You love going to church and being with other Christians and you love You you just love the things of God Unless your life has been changed as the scripture says therefore if any man be in Christ He's a new creature the old things have passed away and you begin to hate some of the things that you loved before Some of the things that you used to do some of the things of your lifestyle Now you can't stand it or you get under conviction when you do it When the Spirit of God moves in he begins housecleaning has God been doing some housecleaning. He continues to clean house with me I don't know why that he can keep dragging up so many things that are there. It amazes me. It keeps me humble Nothing to be proud about But have you experienced Jesus Christ? One of the things that's happened in this town and I wrote one of our relation nations leaders a letter last week asking him for help Because the pastor and I've come to conclusion. We just can't handle it all here. There are so many new Christians around There's so much to be done that we're swamped So we're asking if we can get this Conference to come in and help us try to get all of these believers grounded at one time Or as many as we can get in a town of 10,000 Get them into this conference if we can get two or three or four hundred of them in because there were over a thousand that Prayed to receive Christ last year The evangelist evaluated as they looked up at him looked him in the eye He count them out over a thousand. We just can't handle it all Have you seen that type of thing in your church? Would you like to see that in your community? You can have it. One of the things that stops it is unbelief I'm bluey. Well, I want to stop right now because I had some things I wanted to share with you on Moses. I have a burden for revival, but I also have a burden to share the cross to preach the cross with you and Last week I took you through a little bit on the training of Moses and that's very important at home But also there's something very important in the life of Moses and that was his mental conditioning You know for the first 40 years of his life he was mentally conditioned to think Humanistically, he was trained up in all of the wisdom of Israel or not Israel. Excuse me, but the Egyptians Now that was good because God used that later on but it it brought a barrier into his life as far as what God wanted him to do it hurt him in a certain sense and The Bible says man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God and His parents had pumped into him all of the word that they could get for the first few years that they had him but then when he went into the world, he was saturated with humanistic thinking and Of course a worldly mind will produce a worldly life a heavenly mind will produce a heavenly life now something happened to Moses While he was being trained he never did forget that he Was going to be used by God and that was true. He had this in his heart I believe God had put that in his heart and his mom and dad had probably told him over and over again God is going to use you to deliver us And so he believed that but what happened with him is what happens with us so many times That we can get tripped up by the devil or by own thinking into thinking that we are really something Or that God is going to really use us and I don't know how he can get along without me Well, whatever the thing is that with you with Moses It was this I believe that he had all this training all this education all of this Experience and then this position of being in line to be feral and that God obviously was going to use all of this To use him to deliver Israel Well, there are some truth and some half-truth there and what I want to take you through in the next few minutes Is show you some things some principles. So let's see how Moses thought and what he thought in relation to the world and God Now in the training of Moses we we see in the book of Acts in chapter 7 21 and Moses would look was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was mighty in words and deeds. He was equipped and Worldly education remember is not to be the supreme influence in your life. You may have a worldly education But that's not to be the supreme influence God's Word is life is on the level of thought this is why you need to put into your mind the Word of God and The Lord doesn't want us out of the world because he he prayed for his own disciples I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world But that thou shouldest keep them from the evil the pornography in the world the poor Norris thinking So here's Moses. He's mighty in words, and he's a statement statesman. He's mighty in deeds He's a leader and he was basically trained someone shared in seven areas seven major areas that of organization discipline patience decision-making administration Communication and authority all seven areas God was able to use in Moses life in leading Israel out But he thought that that training He was going to use to lead Israel out and that was wrong. God was going to do it his way And this is one of the things that trips us up many times. We think well, I've got this degree I've got this education and I'm not respected in the church the way I should be I am NOT appreciated as a pastor the way I should be I I I I and we forget That it's not I that lives but Christ that lives in me and the thing that we think that is our strength many times is the thing that becomes the burden that breaks us down to nothing and God many times needs to take his Special one out into a desert needs to take you into a life crushing situation to break you of being dependent upon yourself and So that's why this series on what I call the desert survival series God may be breaking you right now taking you through something a testing a trying a trial to break you of self to get you to the point to where you are you are crucified and Christ is alive where you're through with yourself and trusting yourself Now, let's learn some principles the first principle in Exodus chapter 2 If you want to turn there in verse 11 is the principle of carrying a burden You see Moses had a heart for God He hadn't forgot God and he had a heart for his people Israel and he had a burden because it says it came to pass in those days when Moses was grown that he went out and to his brethren and looked on their burdens and he spied in Egyptians smiting in a Hebrew one of his brethren and he looked this way in that way and when he saw that there was no Man, he slew the Egyptian and hit him in the sand And when he went out on the second day behold two men of the Hebrews strove together and he said to him that did the wrong Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow and he said who made thee a prince and a judge over us Intendest thou to kill me is thou killest the Egyptian and Moses feared and said surely this thing is known Now the principle of carrying a burden is very important Who gave Moses that burden? Well, God did he gave him that burden now, let me share some things with you on a burden. I Believe if you're gonna get close to God close to Jesus Christ and know him you're gonna have a burden You're gonna have a burden for sin. You're gonna have a burden for the lost You're gonna have a burden for your church. You're gonna have a burden for your pastor. You're gonna have a burden for your country Jesus lived with a burden a Broken heart if you'll go deep enough with God, he'll give you the broken heart experience But this thing of Carrying a burden Moses went out unto his brethren and looked on their burdens Oswald Chambers said Moses saw the oppression of his people and felt certain that he was the one to deliver them and In the righteous indignation of his own spirit. He started to right their wrongs Did you ever try to straighten somebody else's life out? And all of a sudden find yourself into a bigger jam than you wished you were in. I Wished I could say I've never experienced that but I'm afraid I've got into that many times And after the first strike for God Chambers says and for the right God allowed Moses to be driven into blank Discouragement he sent him into the desert to feed sheep for 40 years Now that's a long prison term Well, he did kill a man Forty years at the end of that time God appeared and told Moses to go and bring forth his people and Moses said who am I that I should go Now get this chamber said in the beginning Moses realized that he was the man to deliver the people But he had to be trained and disciplined by God first and many times We're out trying to straighten up the world when we've never been trained how to do it. We've never let God Take us and do completely with us what he wants to do He was the right Individual that's all right. He was not the man for the work until though he had learned communion with God he had some more training and We may have the vision of God and a very clear understanding of what God wants chamber says and we start to do the thing And then comes something equivalent to the 40 years in the desert. Does God have you there? Huh 40 years in the desert and the whole thing when we are thoroughly discouraged God comes back and revives the call Don't ever give up on God Don't ever give up on God. You may have lost everything all your hopes all your dreams and maybe even given up on your vision Don't give up on God. Let him do with you what he wants to do Let him make you what he wants you to be and then you'll be a vessel in the hand of the master for his use and So God came back to him and as we go on in the next few weeks, we'll learn more about this We have to learn that our individual effort for God Our individual effort for God is of no use Unless God is in it And there's another principle here and that's this if you want to know Christ you will know him by knowing what hurts him and It will hurt you also Moses had some more training go through some deep training Paul said that I might know him in the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings the Lord Jesus The scripture says surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows Forty years out in that desert with God Moses got to know him got to respect him and he came to the point Where he would not just rush out and grab a hold of something anymore So many times we rush in and we're just like a bull in the China shop in our churches We're doing this if and if we don't get our way We're gonna make sure everybody knows it and our churches are in sad shape and we need revival Have you seen a revival yet to come into your church? Where God dealt with you and showed you that you were the problem You get yourself before God and let him just show you your own heart your own selfishness your own bitterness your own wickedness I'll tell you what it'll humble you if you'll be honest enough before God Well, you're not able To bear your burden alone Let him bear it Well our times about gone and I wanted to share with you a little bit more on this Not much time in 30 minutes, but it's all the time that we need if God wants to speak to us I trust that you'll have revival in your heart in your heart in your church in your city Do you want it? I'm praying for you I'm praying that God will work in your life deeply if I can help you then you're right to me I plan on being back down into Missouri again The northern part about the middle of the month and then working my way back down to the southern part In about a week's time there and if you're right, maybe we can get together Those of you that write us the first time your letters forwarded on to where we are I've corresponded many times with some of the listeners.
