Steve Farrar

Steve Farrar (October 30, 1949–February 19, 2022) was an American Christian preacher, author, and founder of Men’s Leadership Ministries, renowned for his focus on equipping men to be spiritual leaders in their families and churches. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Ralph and Helen Farrar, he grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, before moving to California. He earned a B.A. in Speech Communication from California State University, Fullerton, a Master’s from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and a Doctor of Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary, where his dissertation on men’s needs shaped his bestselling book Point Man: How a Man Can Lead His Family (1990). Farrar pastored for 15 years in the 1970s and 1980s before founding Men’s Leadership Ministries in 1990, later serving as Associate Pastor of Men’s Ministry at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas. Farrar’s preaching emphasized biblical masculinity, family leadership, and finishing the Christian race well, themes central to his 20+ books, including Finishing Strong, King Me, and a revised Point Man (released posthumously in 2022). He spoke at over 600 men’s conferences, including Promise Keepers, and taught a weekly men’s Bible study in Dallas for over 20 years, reaching thousands in person and online. Known for his candor, humor, and scriptural fidelity, he addressed cultural challenges to manhood with practical wisdom. Married to Mary for 44 years, he had three children—Rachel, John, and Josh—and seven grandchildren. Farrar died unexpectedly at home near Dallas in 2022 at age 72, leaving a legacy of inspiring men to lead with courage and faith.
