Being Fishers of Men
Jose Muniz

José Muniz (birth year unknown–present). Born in the United States, José Muniz is an American evangelist and founder of Jesus Crew Street Ministries in Abilene, Texas, where he has served since the early 1990s. Raised in a challenging environment, he lived a life marked by drug use and trafficking, meeting his future wife, Amy, in 1981 at a drive-in theater where he was selling marijuana. After dating and cohabiting for five years, they married legally, but their lifestyle of partying, drugs, and alcohol persisted. Muniz survived multiple overdoses and arrests on drug trafficking charges before a profound conversion to Christianity transformed his life, followed by Amy’s conversion two months later. Called to ministry, they moved to Abilene as missionaries, preaching at nightclubs, malls, parks, and street corners with a focus on reaching the lost through personal testimony and direct outreach. His sermons, available on platforms like SermonIndex.net, emphasize repentance, salvation, and God’s redemptive power, reflecting his own journey. Muniz authored no major books, but his ministry’s impact endures through community engagement. Married to Amy for over 40 years, they continue to lead Jesus Crew together. He said, “God stepped into my life when I was at my lowest, and He can do the same for anyone.”

Three men that were my mentors, it was Brother Deaver, Brother Roberson, and Brother Van Meter. Brother Van Meter was a German guy, World War II veteran. Brother Roberson and Brother Deaver, they were African American men, all pastors. And then there's me. And they invited me to a prayer meeting, and I had no clue whatsoever what a prayer meeting was. Because, you know, just a week ago I was a drug dealer. So I'm over here doing all this really bad stuff. So prayer meeting, that was not a part of, you know, the vocabulary that I was used to. I went anyway. I showed up in the morning. It was about 8 o'clock in the morning. When I got there, they were already having coffee and sitting around. And I was probably there maybe 30 minutes, 40 minutes. And they were talking and discussing certain things they wanted to pray about. And they said, okay, well let's go ahead and let's go to the Lord in prayer. And of course I don't understand what they're talking about. So I remember Brother Deaver, he goes and lays on the floor with his face to the carpet. And Brother Van Meter, he gets down on his knees next to the recliner. And then Brother Roberson over here by the sofa. And I'm like, well I guess I'm supposed to, you know, get on the floor, because they were all on the floor. So I went over there and I just squatted down and sat there on the sofa with my back up against the sofa. And, you know, my prayer time, I didn't know what prayer was. So I could hear them talking to God. So I said, well God, you know, I prayed for my mom, my brothers. And I was done in about two minutes or so. So then I looked at my watch and, you know, it's been going on for 15 minutes. And I'm like, man, just be quiet now. It's time to just, okay, it's 15 minutes. So then 45 minutes go by. And by this time I'm thinking, man, they need to shut up. Man, that's 45 minutes. I mean, heck, let's get out of here. Well, two and a half hours later they got done. And I was like, man, thank God. Well, then they went back to the table and had some more coffee and talked a little bit more. And I said, well, let's take this to the Lord of Prayer. And I'm like, man, you've got to be kidding me. And that went on for another three hours. So I'm like, man, this reminds me of that initial, the way I was brought in. But you know what? More of this is needed. Because it's so important. And I was taught by these guys. Two of them were already gone to be with the Lord. But Brother Deaver, who at the time was the youngest one of the three, Brother Van Meter and Brother Robertson, they were in their 70s. And Brother Deaver, he was in his 50s. Now I think he's 80. And I actually just met with him a couple of weeks ago. I still visit him. I try to go by there every two months or so just to have fellowship and see what else he can just impart to me. And so this is what I'm reminded of. This prayer time, it's good. And I enjoy it too. I like to go outside in my backyard and do the same. But there's a lot of things missing now in the church world. And prayer is one of them. And reading the Bible is another. And evangelism. And when it's all said and done, when we get through with our prayer meetings, and when you get done with your Bible studies and church conferences and all of these things, they're actually supposed to help you do evangelism. That is the whole goal of everything that we do. You know, Jesus, as he was being taken up into the clouds when we read in the book of Acts, it says that they were just standing there gazing up. And as he's going up, he's telling them. And you can imagine, you know, here's Jesus about 10, 15, 20 feet up in the air. And he's telling them, go into all the world. And they're standing there. Can you just picture that? You know, that's amazing. You know, as he's leaving, he's giving them a command. And unfortunately today, we are in a time of, like the brother said, of falling away. There's a lot of lukewarmness. And it's so sad. I want to read a scripture from the Gospel of Matthew in chapter 4. It's in Matthew 4, 19. And I'm going to read from 17. It says, from that time, Jesus began to preach and to say, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon, called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers. And he said unto them, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Now, to me, when I read that scripture, that means that anyone who says they're followers of Christ, they're going to be fishers of men. And if they're not fishers of men, they're not following Jesus. I don't care what they say. I don't care how many conferences and prayer meetings and all. If they are not after souls, they're not following Jesus. Because, see, what Jesus does with a person, when he saves you, he makes you a fisher of men. And I remember, I was sitting at a city park, smoking a marijuana joint with three of my other brothers. And there I hear the gospel for the first time. So, drug dealing, pot smoker, drug addict, whatever goes on with that lifestyle. And then, the Lord steps into my life, and now, it says, I will make you. So, whatever you are, and you can be a doctor, a lawyer, whatever you are, but you're going to be a doctor that's a fisher of men. A mechanic that's a fisher of men. That's what God does. So, as I see what's going on, there's not a whole lot of training and discipleship into fishers of men. And I see people, you know, traveling all over the place. They'll drive 500 miles to go hear some guy speak. And then, from there, they go, well, so and so is going to be over here. So, there they go. And they're buying all these tickets and money and hotel rooms. And I'm like, okay, so what are you going to do now? Now that you've got all this information, what are you going to do now? And they still just go on with their business, business as usual. The loss, they're still going to hell. You know, it's still the same. And all they got was a little pep talk to make them feel good. And then they go back home, and it's business as usual. And I'm like, well, wait a minute. Jesus said he's going to make us fishers of men. Why is there not a whole lot of fishermen out there nowadays? I'm not seeing that. I'm not seeing that at all. And I'm like, man, something needs to change. I remember I went to a conference. And actually, me and Amy were asked by some parents if we could take their kids to this conference up in Kansas. And they said, man, we'll pay your way. We'll buy the, you get your hotel room, and you can take our vehicle. And, you know, I looked at my calendar. I said, ah, let's take them. So on the way up there, I'm just sharing the gospel with the kids because they were all hyped up about this conference. Well, the conference is supposed to be about prayer. And I'm like, so I go in there, and we went into the conference. They had to pay $60, I think, each kid to go to this prayer conference. So 10,000 kids show up at $60 each. You can imagine. So we were there about five minutes, and we walked out. I just, something was not right. So I just walked out. So I walked outside, and I see the janitor sweeping the floors in this big coliseum. And I said, excuse me, sir. So he came over there where we were at. Could you tell me what's going on in there? He said, no, I don't know. And I said, wow. Here you got 10,000 Christians in a prayer meeting, and this guy doesn't even know what's going on. I thought, wow. I said, sir, is there anything that we could pray for you about? He said, well, as a matter of fact, yeah. My two-month-old baby's been sick ever since he was born. And I would like prayer for my son. So right there, we start praying. He put his broom to the side, and we start praying for him. And a tear just rolled down his face. And I thought, wow, here he is right next door. You can just walk in through those doors, and there's 10,000 Christians there shouting and jumping and praying. And this man's on his way to hell, and his baby's sick. I'm like, wow. No fishers of men. As a matter of fact, Jesus even says, pray to the Lord of the harvest that he may send neighbors. So I'm like, one of the things that I pray for is God send neighbors. God send neighbors. And when we first became believers and started walking with Christ, I was actually very blessed to have three men. They weren't into all this hype stuff. To them, it's like, we're going to pray, and then we're going to go out. So I remember I got saved on a Friday, and on a Saturday, I had a handful of trash. I had no idea what they were, but they were just a bunch of little cars with little Bible verses. And Brother Van Meter said, well, let's go. So there we go. And I remember we were driving down the street, and there's a group of guys that I used to actually sell drugs there. And Brother Van Meter says, hey, there's some guys. And I said, Brother Van Meter, you don't want to stop there. Those guys are bad. Like, they're really bad. And I knew most of them. And Brother Van Meter, he looked at me, and he said, well, weren't you bad just a few weeks ago? I said, yeah. So he said, well, they need to hear about Christ. So I'm like, oh, no. He goes around the block and comes up, and he pulls up into their driveway. And there's about 30 of them, and they're all holding beer cans, and they're cooking out and stuff. And, man, I just sank down into the seat. And I'm like, man, they're going to kill him. He's going to get beat up. And I would raise up, and, man, I could just see his hand, you know, like he was talking to them. And then I would sink back down again. And then I'd peak up again. And all of a sudden, I see all the guys looking for spots to put their beer cans down. So then I stayed up. I'm like, I'm going to watch this. And then they all started holding hands. I'm like, man, I can't believe this. And they all bowed their heads, and he prayed with them. And then he reached in his pocket, and every single one of those guys took a gospel track. I was like, wow. That guy's bold. Well, at first I thought he was crazy. But actually, you know, in my terms, you know, he's just being bold. But what does the Scripture say? That the righteous are bold as a lion. The righteous are bold. So who's righteous? Well, according to the Scripture, according to all of us, yeah, I'm righteous. Well, if I'm righteous, that means I'm bold. Because that's what the Scripture says. And there's certain things that you don't have to look up in the Greek and twist it all around. It says what it says. And if it says that the righteous are bold as a lion, that's exactly what it means. Very plain and simple. And if Jesus says that I'm going to make you a fisher of men, well, that's exactly what he means. So how in the world can we call ourselves Christians? And we're ashamed of, you know, man, I don't want to say anything. I don't want to talk to anybody. Well, wait a minute. You're being a coward. You know, and in Revelation it says that the fearful and unbelieving, man, they have their part in the lake of fire. So that word fearful means a coward, a wimp. And I'm like, man, I don't want to be one of them. But see, when we got the Holy Spirit in us, and I'm not saying that I'm trying, I'm hitting everybody. Because, you know, sometimes you're going and moving places. But when you are stopped, and I'm like, okay, who can I get? You know, and I tell people, I said, you know, I'm going to go share the gospel at the grocery store. And while I'm there, I'll pick up a loaf of bread. I'm going to go to the restaurant to share the gospel. And while I'm there, I'll go ahead and eat. See, that's the way I see it. But see, so many times people just walk into a restaurant. They eat and they walk, and nobody knows that they were Christians. Nobody knew nothing about them. And so I sit down at a table. And the waitress comes, or the waiter. When it's all said and done, the waitress is going to hear about Christ. I guarantee you. So we sit at the table. It's 3 in the morning. It's me and my wife Amy. So Amy says, the lady's name was Mary. Mary, how can we pray for you today? And the lady just broke down and started crying. We don't know who she is. We don't know what's going on. But we did. We found out that Mary was separated from her husband for about two weeks. She has two babies, and she's having a hard time financially. Mary's not saved. Mary's on her way to hell. But you know what? If we would have just been the average Christian, we would have sat down. We would have pigged out and left a couple of dollars and left. But no, that's not who we are. See, Jesus made us fishers of men. So wherever we go, we're fishing. Everywhere we go, I'm looking for the opportunity. Now, I hear so many people say this. Well, I'm glad you're that way. I'm glad God called you. And man, it's just awesome what God's done in your life. And I'm like, well, wait a minute. You know, we're all following Jesus. And if he said that if we would follow him, he would make us fishers of men. Well, how come you ain't fishing? Well, that means you ain't following. You're not a follower of Christ. Wow, I feel smart. Guess who's going to be? These are the people that are going to say, Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name. We cast out devils. We did wonderful works in your name. Depart from me. See, to be a follower, to be a Christian, you have to be a witness. It goes hand in hand. You can't separate it. It's like trying to get wet out of water. It's just who you are. You can't change that. And once you sign the little card, I like that. I actually already got it in my wallet. Once you make that commitment, once you get born again, the process begins. Okay. Now, I know you was a drug dealer, but now you're going to be a fisher of men. And the Holy Spirit starts working and changing things. And as you're sitting there with the scripture and spending time in prayer and fasting and praying, God's doing a work. But see, you can't help but share. How in the world can I not say nothing about Christ? I mean, here I am facing 10 years in the state pen. And I'm a goner. And all of a sudden, I get saved four weeks before my court date. And up to that point, I've been meeting with my court-appointed attorney. And he's telling me, just plead not guilty and you'll get two years. Well, now I get born again and I meet with the attorney. And he's going over all the paperwork. And he said, well, just like I said, just plead not guilty. I said, well, wait a minute. Now I'm born again. Well, wait a minute. Man, I am guilty. He put his pen down. He said, are you stupid? I said, no. I'm just going to be honest. Because you know what? Jesus saved me. And lying is a sin. And I am guilty of all counts. He said, if you don't listen to what I'm saying, I'm not going to help you out. I said, I don't care. I'm going to tell the truth. So we're standing in the courtroom. And I'm there. And there's the judge, the jury. They hear all the evidence, everything against me. And so the judge tells me to stand up. And I stood. The judge says, how does the defendant plead? I said, I'm guilty, sir, of all counts. There's probably about 150 people in the courtroom. Because they all want to see what's going to happen to me. Because I've been raising all kinds of hell in several counties around there. And you could hear the people just gasping. Oh, I can't believe this. You could hear it. I'm guilty. I said, OK. So they passed a little paper to the judge. And they showed a sentence. They'd given me the maximum 10 years. So the judge says, give me one good reason why I shouldn't lock you up for 10 years. I said, sir, about four weeks ago, Brother Van Meter's standing next to me. Actually, he's behind me. And so is Amy. About four weeks ago, Jesus Christ stepped into my life. And I got born again. And now I'm following him. And for the past four weeks, I haven't been drinking, cussing. I've left all my lifestyle that I had before behind. And if you give me one more chance, I'll prove to you in this court that I will never be in trouble again. So the judge scribbles some things down. 10-minute recess. So he gets up, and he walks out. And people start talking and going to get a drink and all that. And I'm just sitting there. And my heart is actually going about 1,000 miles an hour. And I thought, man, God help me. I've told the truth. So then, 10 minutes later, all arise. The judge walks back in. He sits down. And as he sits down, he leans forward and he says, come up here. So I walked up there. And I stood right in front of him. Yes, sir. And he leaned forward over the little podium things. And the judge sits. He says, I'm going to stick out my neck for you. And he leaned back. He said, go back to your seat. So I went back to my seat. Sat down. And he starts reading. The state of Texas versus Jose Munoz, you've been found guilty of this. And he reads all the charges against me. The defendant has pleaded guilty on all counts. And stand up. I've got to stand up to get sentenced. So I stand up. He says, well, you have been found guilty. You understand the consequences of your actions. I said, yes, sir. He said, well, I'll sentence the defendant to one year probation. And I'm like, what did he say? Well, man. I literally wanted to go give him a kiss and a big hug. I was like, man, did he just say that? And man, well, my brother's hand meter is all excited. Amy said, they're freaking out. My attorney, he's not even talking to me. He's freaking out. Like, man, if I would have listened to him, I would have gone for two years. But I just did what God told me to do. Be honest. Well, that was in 1984. In 2007, I was preaching at a little bitty church. In the same county where I went to court at. Haskell County. And an elderly lady from the back after I got through preaching, she came up there. And I had mentioned something about the judge. And she says, I know that judge. I'm like, really? I've been trying to find him for several years just to thank him personally. And I had actually gone to the courthouse before, like maybe 15 years before that. And they actually called the cops on me. Because they thought that I was out to hurt the judge. Because I'm requesting the judge. I'm like, why do you want to know where he lives? Oh, dear. Well, after I shared with them, that lady at the time, the county clerk, had told me that. Because, you know, she said, why do you want to see him? I said, well, I want to thank him. Because, you know, several years ago, he could have locked me up for 10 years. But he didn't. He spared me. And I just want to thank him. Because since then, I've been walking with Christ. And I've been sharing the gospel. And I've told her what things I have been doing. And the lady just started crying. So while she's crying, two of the sheriff deputies show up with their guns. Put your hands up. They had already pushed a button. You know, and by the time they got there, I got to share why. So the lady's got her napkin handkerchief. And she's waving at us. He's OK. He's OK. So the lady says, tell them what you just told me. So I turned to the sheriff and the deputy. And I started telling them. He puts his gun down. He's like, OK. Well, they knew who I was. They were the same sheriff and the guy that were there when I got arrested. But this day, that old lady told me, I know the judge. I know his daughter. And at the time, I was about to leave for Australia. I was going to be gone for a few weeks. And I said, well, when I get back, here's my number. Please give it to the judge. I would like to see him. His name was Judge John McDermott. John Wayne McDermott. And so when I got back, I landed in LA. And I turned my phone on. And all these messages start popping up. And I'm going through my voicemails. And one of them is the judge. And he said, yeah, I remember you, Jose. Just come on by whenever you get. Call me whenever you get back. And so I called him immediately. And I told him I was in Los Angeles. And I flew into the Dallas-Fort Worth area. And about a week later, I drove to his house. He lived in a gated community in Fort Worth. And so I get there. And I called him. And he gave me this code number. And I went through. And a bodyguard or somebody met me at the door and took me into his place. We sat down. And we talked for three hours. And he cried the whole time. And he said, man, I can't believe it. I can't tell you how many breaks I gave. And you're the first one I hear. The next day, six days. Here's a picture of Mr. McDermott. He said, of course, that case he did was the last before he retired. He retired the next day after he did the court. He said, hold on. Don't take the picture yet. He went and got the little gavel. And he's holding it. A few days before, he's got a sling he had fell down in the shower and broke his arm. And I was like, wow, isn't it amazing what God does? Yes. But he said, come back any time. So I'm like, OK, I'll come by and see you again. But you know, God, he's here. He's not only saved us, but he saved us to be fishers of men. Now, I have found out that you can use little gospel tracts. They're very simple. Not all the time you have time to sit down and talk to people for as long as you'd like to to share the gospel. But that's why we have little gospel tracts. Because if you're in a rush, hey, we'll take this. There's people behind you. And you want to be courteous and not take advantage of their time on the clock. So you leave them a little gospel tract. And then you just make your way. Or say you're out in a festival or whatever. Tomorrow, God willing, I want to go downtown DC. And I want to take a few thousand tracts. And I'm going to plant as many seeds as I possibly can in Washington, DC. Why? Man, this is the capital. And there's a lot of bad things that are being laws and all kinds of things that have been passed right from the city here. But if I lived here, I'd be there several days a week planting seed to whoever got in the way. In the city that we live in, it's about 120,000 people, population. Me and my wife have canvassed that city five times, door to door. We have a map. We highlight every street we go to. We've done it five times. I told him, I said, well, we're done here. Let's move. Let's go to Austin. And he said, well, let's pray about that. But wherever we go, we're passing out gospel tracts and we're telling people about Christ. Now, a gospel tract's just like bait. See, I have this sign. It's eight feet tall and it just says, what if? And so I'm passing out little gospel tracts and it's bait. So what's this about? I got them. Now we're going to talk. But that's what the tract is for. And if they don't stop and talk, at least they got something to take with them. And they'll put it in their back pocket and then they'll read it later. Oh, wow. Like this one here, the Ten Commandments. Plain and simple. It doesn't matter what kind of religious you are or religion or denomination. To some degree, everybody agrees with the commandments. And because you know what? They're against murder, adultery. I mean, there's just certain things that people are against, even if they're not religious at all. And I have actually found that out firsthand from people that I talk to. I had a guy one time, he said, well, man, actually I've heard this from so many people. Well, man, you're just gifted. That's your calling. And blah, blah, blah, blah. The gift of evangelism, which is nowhere in the scripture. There's no such thing as a gift of evangelism. You know, evangelism is for everybody that's born again. I don't care who you are. It doesn't matter. You're following Christ. And you can't follow Christ for too long before he starts making you into a fisher of men. You know, so you can't be walking with Jesus 15 years and not be a fisher of men. It's impossible. Impossible. It's not possible. This guy says, well, man, I can't do that. I said, well, would you hand out tracts if I gave you $1,000 for every tract you hand out? He said, well, I said, well, just picture this. Say you're on a flight, and you get to sit in first class. And in first class, Bill Gates is sitting right next to you. And he says, oh, of course, just think about this. Bill Gates becomes a Christian. He says, you know what, man, I've got so much money, I want you to go out and share the gospel with as many people as you can, and I'll give you $1,000 for each tract that you hand out. Now, what would you do? What would you do? Man, guess what? All of a sudden, you got the gift. All of a sudden, you feel that calling. All of a sudden, we'll see what you're doing is you're thinking to yourself, OK, wow, man. So you grab a handful. You grab as many tracts as you can. How many do you have? Well, I've got a box of 5,000. OK, I'll take the whole box. And you head out. And man, you're driving down the road, and you see some people at the park. OK, well, wait up, guys. Hold up. You're thinking 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, 5,000. See, that's what you think. And then all of a sudden, you leave the park. You've got everybody. You get to your house, and your neighbor, oh, man, I need to go talk to Mr. Smith. It's midnight. Hey, Mr. Smith. Hey, guys, hey, wake up. Mrs. Smith comes to the door. She's in a nightgown. What are you doing worse? I said, well, I just want to invite you on a church. Here, I'd like to give you some gospel tracts and just to tell you that we're praying for you. God loves you. And you've done a witness to the whole family. There's four in the family. So that's four grand. So you've done been to Walmart. You've been to the hospitals. You've done hit everything you could hit in sight. By the end of the day, you've talked to 3,576 people. That means you're a millionaire. Man, you've made $3,576,000. And that was just in about nine hours. You'll do it for $1,000. But it's sad because people won't do it at Christ's command. So who's the God in their wallet? See, don't tell me that it's a gift. You know, because people would do anything for money, even evangelize. A friend of mine who's a millionaire, he actually went into the street. He had a few thousand dollars in his hand. And he called this one guy and says, hey, do you evangelize? You're a Christian? Yeah, I'm a Christian, but man, that's not for me. I said, whoa, he gave him a tract. Would you give this to somebody if I gave you $100? Right now? My friend said, yeah, right now. Yeah, he took the tract. Man, he runs into two girls. Hey, I want to give you all this. He doesn't even know what he's talking about, but he claims to be a Christian. And when he got done, he came back. I did it. My friend pulled out $100. And then he just told them. He said, don't you know that Jesus told you to do this already? So what's our excuse? See, we're followers of Christ. And when we follow Christ, he makes us fishers of men. And if we're not fishing, you're not even a Christian. And I'll say that to whoever. I have no apologies. That's what Jesus does. Everybody that followed Christ, he made them a fisher of men. Without exception. Everybody. Now, one day, see, in the Gospel of Matthew 28, of course, we all know these verses. 28, 18. And Jesus came and spake unto them the last verses of 28. All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. He says, go. Now, there's certain people, actually there's a lot of people, well, I gotta pray about that. Well, why do you have to pray about it if he already said go? And I tried something a few years ago. Me and my wife Amy, we were on our way to Walmart. And the light turns green, and I stayed there. And Amy was putting on her makeup. And she said, the light's green. I said, yeah, I know. Well, in about two or three seconds, the car behind me starts honking. The car behind that one starts honking. So now, in just a few seconds, there's about 15 cars behind me, four or five cars down, I can see a guy flipping me off. It's just creating a big mess. And I stayed there, and the light turns red. So then I stayed there again. Well, by now, it's creating a bottleneck, a traffic jam, people's upset. I mean, it's just chaos. And then I finally leave after halfway through this mixed green light, and nobody that's behind me likes me. Talking about road rage, I mean, it's coming. I have people cussing me out. They're rolling down their windows. There's a guy halfway out. I mean, if he could hit me, he would hit me. So then I'm like, of course, Amy this whole time, you need to go. They're getting mad. So then I took off, and I'm smiling, because you know what? I just proved something. That when it says go, you go. And if you don't go, you've got a problem. You're going to keep a bunch of other people from going. Now you've got a big problem. Not only did you not go, everybody behind you didn't go either. And it's your fault. Because Jesus said go, and you didn't. You're still over here praying about it. Lord, I'm just seeking. I already said go. What are you waiting for? And you know what? Jesus said that about 2,000 years ago. He's still saying it today. And you know what else he said? That the labors are few. He said that about 2,000 years as well. And he's still saying it today. They're still few. They're still trying to figure out what is God's will. Well, his will is that none should perish. And if we don't go, I know the Mormons are out there. I know the Jehovah Witnesses are out there. They're going. But look at the mess they got. And here we are, the body of Christ. We have the truth. We know the truth. We know the truth personally. And yet, they're still praying about what? I'm like, man, you need to just go out there and start doing something. And that's why, man, if they're within reach, I'm going to get them. I am going to get somebody today. You know, that's just the way it is when you're a fisher of men. You remember I shared this story about the man that was in Mark chapter 5. He's running around naked through the cemeteries. And Jesus, he gets on the boat with his disciples. They go across the Sea of Galilee. He gets off, and the first man that walks up to him is this crazy man, naked. He's been cutting himself with stones. He's been tied. He's busted the chains. They just can't contain this guy. And Jesus goes over there and said, Hey, cast the devils out. They go into the pigs. They run off. The people freak out. They see this man sitting there clothed and in his right mind. And Jesus is like, well, okay, guys, let's go. And the man says, hey, let me go with you. And Jesus says, no, go back to your family, your friends. Go tell them what great things God has done for you. And the man went. The next time Jesus came, all kinds of people wanted to talk to Jesus. Why? Because this man that was running around naked, within a few minutes, he went from being demon possessed, running around naked, to a missionary. Just like that. Guess what Jesus told him? Go. Go tell. Now, when Jesus set me free, man, guess what happened, man? Guess what happened to me? Man, I have no desire for drugs. Man, I've been set free. It's amazing. And then to top it off, man, I was going to do 10 years and I get probation. Man, how great is my God. How can you just shut up and not say nothing? How can you just not say nothing? The King of Kings, the creator of the universe is in here and you can just shut up about it? How is that? How is that even possible? It's impossible. And the reason they can shut up about it is because they don't know him. They have a form of godliness. They're just going through the motions. That's what they've been taught. Everybody does it. And if you get all fired up, they tend to calm you down. Oh, this guy's too on fire. Man, put some water on him. Calm him down. I remember, I've been saved about three weeks. Man, I'm tracking away. I'm passing out tracks at a gas station. I see three guys that went to school with me. I hadn't seen them since I got kicked out of school. Hey, it's Mike, Tom. Yeah, that's them. As I got closer, it's cold. Man, I ended up some tracks. I told them what Jesus has done in my life. Tom says to Mike, yeah, remember when that happened to us? They're talking to each other. And they said, it'll fade away in about three weeks. Two, three weeks tops, man. Remember summer camp, Mike? Yeah. I don't know what they're talking about. But as time went on, I'm like, oh. See, because that's normal among the church. You get on fire, and man, it just fizzles out after a few weeks. Well, I didn't know that. I didn't grow up in the church system. I'm not following a bunch of deadheads. I'm hanging out with three old guys that love Christ. And they like to pray for five hours. And they fast two times a week. And man, I'm having fun. So then 15 years later, I run into Mike at the mall. I said, man, that's Mike. I hadn't seen him since that night. So I walked over there, and I just bumped him with my knee. Just hit him on his leg. And he's sitting there waiting on his wife. And he looked up. Jose, man. I said, hey, don't Jose me. You lied to me, man. Boy, he doesn't know what I'm talking about. What are you talking about? The last time I saw you, you lied to me, man. How? And he was trying to hug me, and I'm pushing him off. He hadn't seen me in 15 years. I said, how? What did I say? I said, you told me that this was going to last for two or three weeks. Man, you lied. I pulled out a gospel track, and I gave him another one. He got the track, and he's holding his hand. He sat back down and started weeping. And I just sat next to him. He said, man, my life is falling apart. Since I last saw you, I'm in my third marriage. So I sat down and said, look, Mike, you need God in your life. See, Mike grew up in church all his life, but that's about it. He was never made a fisher of men, because nobody in his church was a fisher of men. What Jesus are they following? Everybody in the church should be a fisher of men. Now, maybe not everybody's going to travel around the world. Maybe not everybody's going to be outside the nightclubs. But you're going to be talking to somebody. And I remember the last time I went to visit Brother Van Meter, he had a heart transplant. And from his before days of Christ, he had done a bunch of stuff. And he was old and frail, and he had oxygen tubes up his nose. He said, son, I've been asking the Lord to take me home. And I just sat there and didn't say anything. He said, you know, I've already witnessed to the mailman and the milkman. And if I can't share the gospel, the Lord might as well just take me home. And a few months later, the Lord took him home. See, it's a passion. How can you see people going to hell and not doing nothing about it? Can you imagine? It would be the same as walking by the swimming pool and seeing somebody drowning, and you just keep walking. That's the same thing. And people are doing it all the time. I'm like, man. So one last example here. As I was coming this way, some really nice country. But I drove over this bridge, and it's way down there, a river, a big river. And I went around that bridge, and then you drive through this real green trees, like a canopy of trees, really beautiful. I come across on the other side, and there's another piece of the bridge. And I'm thinking, okay, a few years ago in South Padre Island, a tugboat hit one of the pillars on the bridge. And knocked down about a 100-foot section. Several people died because they didn't see it. They just drove right on it. And I'm thinking, okay, what would I do if the bridge went out? I see the, oh, it went out. I'm going to pull my car crossways. I'm going to jump on top of my car. I'm going to take off my skirt, because there's a bunch of cars coming. I'm going to be yelling. My hazard lights are on. I'm running, you know, trying to just stop everybody. Because if they keep going, they're going to fall. But you know what today's Christian does? They pull over on the side. Oh, my, the bridge is out. And there's people coming. Oh, well, hopefully they'll see it, just like I did. I'll just pray for them. Lord, help them see the bridge. I hope they see it. Well, I better not, you know, get off the car and yell at them. They might get offended. You know, when something like that is going on, you don't care who you offend. And sometimes when we're out on the street, well, that's the way I think. These people are all on their way to hell, and I'm going to do something about it. And I don't care if they get offended. I don't care if they cuss at me or spit on me or whatever they want to do to me. Why don't I care? Because Jesus told me to go. And I'm going to be obedient. So, today, let's think about this. Meditate on it. Let's pray about that. You know, the harvest is coming. And the laborers are here. And we need to pray that God sends more laborers into the harvest. Because it's His harvest. And believe me, there's a big shortage on fishermen. And there's a lot of fish everywhere. It's amazing. Everywhere I go, there's fish. But no fishermen. And they've got all the equipment. They've got everything they need. But they just sit around and tell fish stories about evangelists from way back then. Well, man, remember this big revival they had in the 1800s and the 1700s? And, man, they share all these stories about this guy and this guy and what he did. Well, what are you doing? No matter what they did, what am I doing? So, what are we doing? I've got some tracts. As a matter of fact, I see some tracts up here. And I would say, you know what? When we leave, take some. Because, man, there's people on their way to hell. So, I tell people, every Christian should have something in their pocket, something to give. Everybody. I mean, man, I don't go anywhere without gospel tracts. Nowhere. As a matter of fact, I forgot my wallet the other day. I had my tracts, but I didn't have my wallet. I'm 200 miles away from home, and I stop at the gas pump. I'm like, oh, man. So then right about then, Amy calls me and says, I hope you have enough gas. And I'm like, well, I'm here at the gas pump in Junction, Texas. She said, well, your wallet's over here. I'm like, oh, man. So, praise the Lord that I knew some people in Junction, Texas. And they happened to be in town, even though they were retired already. And I'm like, man, they're probably traveling. I said, Ms. McAdams, I got a problem. So, I told her what happened. She started laughing. Oh, man, we'll be there in a few minutes. They drove over there, filled up my tank with gas, gave me $100. Said, go get them. So, every believer should have something to give. And, of course, I don't need tracts. I got a mouth. And I got some word in my heart. And it's not there just to keep me from sinning. It's for me to give to others. So, it'll set them free as well. Let's pray. Lord, thank you for saving our soul. Thank you, Lord, for saving us from the hell that we deserve. And, God, you were faithful like you always are to send someone our way to tell us about you. And, God, now, I'm asking you, Lord, whatever it is that's blocking me, that's stopping me from sharing with others, Lord, that you would rid me of it. God, whatever I am holding on to, God, help me to let that go today. Help me to let it go today, Lord. Lord, I want you to do exactly what you said you would do to anyone that follows you. Lord, I want you to make me a fisher of men. God, I'm praying for many fishers of men around this area, down by the capital. Lord, in all areas around the world, Lord, I pray that you would send laborers. God, I pray that people would love you and obey you and bid their calling. God, you've called us, you've commanded us. You didn't tell us to pray about it. Lord, you didn't ask us to pray or to fast about it. You already told us to come. Help us, Lord, to be obedient. Help us, Lord, to obey. Help us, Lord, to obey. You know how many lost souls are out there. And God, by the billions, 150,000 die every 24 hours, Lord, on average. Every second that goes by, 2 or 3, 2 or 3, 5 or 6, dying, Lord, around the clock. While the church just sits around and caters to their own desires. Even deceiving themselves, Lord, that they're doing your will. God, help us, give us, save us. And God, I know that as we follow you, we don't have to worry about how it's going to get done. All we need to do, Lord, according to you, is just follow you. That's all we've got to do. Because if we follow you, you are going to make us fishers of men. You will change our minds, our hearts, our attitudes. You'll strip us down, God, of sin and pride and whatever it is. You will just strip it all down, Lord, and make us fishers of men. That is my prayer in Washington, D.C. Lord, raise up laborers. Lord, raise up fishers of men, Lord. And we're asking you, Lord, because you are the only one that can make a person to be a fisher of men. People can run the conferences, read books, do all these things. But, Lord, it is just following you that's going to make the fisher of men. So, Lord, here we are. And God, just like Sister Noah said, that we're here to recruit, the Lord's here to recruit. We need more soldiers. We need more. And, God, even though the barracks are full, there's just a handful that are grabbing their arms and heading out to the fishing field. Lord, God, help us. Help us. Lord, I know that you are going to speak to us, each one of us, our longtime friend, that we never said a word about Christ to you. God, whoever it is that you're putting right now on our mind and our heart, God, let us be obedient. Whether it be a cousin, an uncle, a man, a grandmother, a co-worker, Lord, you know, help us, Lord. Because, Lord, you, by the blood that you shed on the cross, you make us righteous. The word says that the righteous are holy as a light. So, God, here we go. Here we go, Lord. Here we go. And as we go, Lord, I know that you're going to put the people that you want us to talk to. You will put them there. All we have to do is go. All we need to do, Lord, is obey your command. Thank you, Lord, so much. It's the least that we can do. Somebody told me, so I'm going to tell somebody else. And, God, all of this came down from you. Lord, when you walked physically on this planet right here, you discipled a few men. And you commanded them to go. And Peter went. And James went. And, God, they went. And Paul talked to somebody, led them to you. That person talked to somebody, and they led somebody. And it came up, Lord, all through the centuries. And one of those people, Lord, and now, Lord, I'm telling somebody. And it keeps going. Until the very end. When they all have had an opportunity to either receive or reject. Lord, lead us. Guide us by your Holy Spirit, Lord. I'm so thankful, Lord, for the opportunity for the brothers and the sisters that are here in this area. I thank you, Lord, for the work that you're doing here. Thank you so much, Father. God, I'm asking you these things in agreement, Lord, with my brothers and sisters. I'm in agreement. We are all in agreement, Lord. And you said, Lord, if any two agree on anything, it's God that you're going to do that. So, God, we're expecting something great. We're expecting, Lord, some labor, some fish or some men to rise up in this area. In the name of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Lord. And Lord, it's in your name, Father, that we ask you these things, Lord.
