Prayer is appointed to convey The blessings God designs to give. In ev' ry case should Christians pray, If near the fount of grace they' d live.

If pain afflict, or wrongs oppress; If cares distract, or fears dismay; If want deject, if sin distress, In ev' ry case still watch and pray. 3 ' Tis prayer supports the soul that' s weak, Tho' thought be broken, language lame; God through his Word to us doth speak And we to him in Jesus' name.

Depend on him; thou canst not fail; But ask according to his will; Then always shall thy prayer prevail, And nothing shall to thee work ill.
