25 Verses Desert Journey
Verse 1
By faith in Christ I walk with God, With heav'n, my journey's end in view; Supported by his staff and rod, My road is safe and pleasant too.
Verse 2
I travel through a desert wide,
Verse 3
Where many round me blindly stray;
Verse 4
But he vouchsafes to be my guide,
Verse 5
And will not let me miss my way.
Verse 6
Though snares and dangers throng my path,
Verse 7
And earth and hell my course withstand,
Verse 8
I triumph over all by faith,
Verse 9
Guarded by his almighty hand.
Verse 10
The wilderness affords no food,
Verse 11
But God for my support prepares;
Verse 12
Provides me ev'ry needful good,
Verse 13
And frees my soul from wants and cares.
Verse 14
With him sweet converse I maintain,
Verse 15
Great as he is, I dare be free,
Verse 16
I tell him all my grief and pain,
Verse 17
And he reveals his love to me.
Verse 18
Some cordial from his word he brings
Verse 19
When'er my feeble spirit faints;
Verse 20
At once my soul revives and sings,
Verse 21
And yields no more to sad complaints.
Verse 22
I pity all that worldlings talk
Verse 23
Of pleasures that will quickly end;
Verse 24
Be this my choice, O Lord, to walk
Verse 25
With thee, my Guide, my Guard, my Friend!
