Uzzi’a. (my strength is God).

1. Fourth son of Kohath, father of Mishael, Eizaphan or Elizaphan and Zithri, and uncle to Aaron. Exo 6:18; Exo 6:22; Lev 10:4. (B.C. before 1491).

2. A Simeonite captain, son of Ishi, in the days of Hezekiah. 1Ch 4:42.

3. Head of a Benjamite house, of the sons of Bela. 1Ch 7:7. (B.C. 1706).

4. A musician, of the sons of Heman in David’s reign. 1Ch 25:4.

5. A Levite, of the sons of Jeduthun, in the days of Hezekiah. 2Ch 29:14; 2Ch 29:18. (B.C. 726).

6. Son of Harhaiah, probably a priest in the days of Nehemiah, who took part in repairing the wall. Neh 3:8. (B.C. 446). He is described as "of the goldsmiths," that is, of those priests whose hereditary office it was to repair or make the sacred vessels.

1. Kohath’s fourth son (Exo 6:18; Exo 6:22; 1Ch 6:2; 1Ch 6:18). Head of one of the four great Kohathite families, UZZIELITES (Num 3:27; 1Ch 26:23).

2. Son of Ishi, of Simeon; one of the four captains who led their 500 brethren to Mount Seir, of which they dispossessed the Amalekites (1Ch 4:42-43). 1Ch 4:3. A Benjamite, of Bela’s sons (1Ch 7:7).

4. A musician, of Heman’s sons (1Ch 25:4; Azareel, i.e. helped of God, in ver. 18).

5. A Levite, of Jeduthun’s sons; under Hezekiah took part in cleansing the temple from its pollution under Ahaz (2Ch 29:14; 2Ch 29:19).

6. Son of Harhaiah, a priest who repaired the wall (Neh 3:8): "of the goldsmiths," i.e. those priests whose hereditary office it was to make or repair the sacred vessels.

1. Son of Kohath and brother of Amram (Ex. vi. 18; I Chron. vi. 2). He was the father of Mishael, Elzaphan, and Zithri (Ex. vi. 22). The first two, at the bidding of Moses, carried from the Tabernacle the bodies of Nadab and Abihu, their cousins (Lev. x. 4). Elzaphan, moreover, was chief of the family of the Kohathites during the wandering in the wilderness (Num. iii. 30). Another son of Uzziel, named Amminadab, was one of the Levite chiefs selected to carry the Ark of the Covenant to the tent which David had pitched for it in Zion (I Chron. xv. 10). Two other sons of Uzziel were named respectively Micah and Jesiah (ib. xxiii. 20). His descendants were termed "Uzzielites" (Num. iii. 27; I Chron. xxvi. 23).

2. A Simeonite; son of Ishi; one of the chiefs who, during the reign of King Hezekiah, passed over the Jordan, annihilated the remnants of the Amalekites, and settled in their territory around Mount Seir (I Chron. iv. 41-43).

3. One of the eponymous heroes of the tribe of Benjamin; described as one of the five sons of Bela (ib. vii. 7).

4 (Called also Azareel). Son of Heman. He belonged to the eleventh order of those who were chosen by lot to serve as singers in leading the worship in the Temple during the reign of David (I Chron. xxv. 4, 18).

5. Son of Jeduthun; one of those who were chosen to resanctify the Temple during the reign of Hezekiah (II Chron. xxix. 14).

6. A goldsmith who repaired part of the walls of Jerusalem under Nehemiah (Neh. iii. 8).

(1) A “son” of Kohath (Exo 6:18, Exo 6:22; Lev 10:4; Num 3:19, Num 3:30; 1Ch 6:2, 1Ch 6:18 (Hebrew 5:28; 6:3); 1Ch 15:10; 1Ch 23:12, 1Ch 23:20; 1Ch 24:24), called in Lev 10:4 “uncle of Aaron.” The family is called Uzzielites (העזּיאלי, hā‛uzzı̄’ēlı̄ (collectively)) in Num 3:27; 1Ch 26:23.

(2) A Simeonite captain (1Ch 4:42).

(3) Head of a Benjamite (or according to Curtis a Zebulunite) family (1Ch 7:7).
