International Standard Bible Encyclopedia by James Orr (ed.) (1915)

un-´kwal: Eze 18:25, Eze 18:29 for lo’ thakhan, “not weighed,” “illogical.” “Unequally” in 2Co 6:14, in the phrase “unequally yoked,” heterozugeo, is used of the yoking together of two animals of different kinds (compare the Septuagint of Lev 19:19).

Wilson's Dictionary of Bible Types by Walter L. Wilson (1957)

2Co 6:14 (a) The yoke that is used on animals is always an equal one. It should not be larger an one side than on the other. It is not to be put on a large animal and a small one together. The ax and the ass were not to be yoked together, for it would be an unequal yoke. So the Christian and the sinner, the unsaved person, are not to be joined together in marriage, in business, or in anything that constitutes a yoke, for they are not equal.
