New and Concise Bible Dictionary by George Morrish (1899)

Some form of fastening with which the curtains of the tabernacle and of the tent were coupled together, as is often done with a hook and a loop, so that they could be easily separated. Exo 26:6; Exo 26:11; Exo 26:33; etc.

TACHES.—An old word of French origin used by AV [Note: Authorized Version.] to render the Heb. qĕrâsîm, which occurs only in P [Note: Priestly Narrative.] ’s description of the Tabernacle (Exo 26:6; Exo 26:11; Exo 26:33; Exo 35:11 etc.). The Gr. rendering denotes the rings set in eyelets at the edge of a sail for the ropes to pass through. The Heb. word evidently signifies some form of hook or clasp (so RV [Note: Revised Version.] ) like the Roman fibula.
