jer-ē̇-mı̄´el (Latin Hieremihel, al. Jeremiel, “El hurls” or “El appoints”): the King James Version margin and the Revised Version (British and American) in 2 Esdras 4:36 for the King James Version “Uriel.” He is here called the “archangel” who answers the questions raised by the souls of the righteous dead. He is perhaps identical with Ramiel of Apocrypha Baruch or Remiel of Eth Enoch.
