was elevated, in June 1012, to the papal see by a party of the Roman nobility in opposition to Benedict VIII. As he was not recognised by the emperor, Henry IV, he seems to have resigned and to have ended his life in retirement.

1909 Catholic Dictionary by Various (1909)

Anti-pope, 1012. He was elected in opposition to Benedict VIII by a small Roman faction. Unable to establish himself in the see, he sought aid from King Henry II at Pohlde, Hanover. The latter forbade him to act as pope and promised to have his claim settled by canon law. Gregory then disappeared from history.
