a learned English divine, was born in London in 1654. He was educated at Christ’s Hospital, and at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he graduated in 1686. He was chosen Greek professor at the University of Cambridge in 1695, and died Aug. 3, 1712. He published a large number of works, among which were, Geramia (1675): — a poetical paraphrase of the History of Esther (1676): — Select Discourses (1680): — and The History of Edward III (1688).
