Matthew Poole's Commentary on the Holy Bible
Matthew Poole (1624–1679) was an English nonconformist theologian and biblical scholar. His Annotations on the Holy Bible, completed by other scholars after his death, is one of the most comprehensive seventeenth-century commentaries, covering the entire Bible. Poole's work summarizes and evaluates the interpretations of earlier commentators, making it an invaluable digest of exegetical opinion from the patristic era through the Reformation.
