Psalms 149THEME: A hallelujah chorus because the kingdom has come through redemption by blood, and judgment by power

Psalms 149:1

We have already discussed the “new song” that is spoken of in the Book of Revelation. The new song will be about the fact that the Lord Jesus is our Redeemer.

Psalms 149:2

He is our Redeemer and let us remember that He is our Creator. We should praise Him for that. When we climb to a mountaintop or walk down by the ocean, we can praise Him. When we are flying by plane, it is a good time to praise the Lord. Now notice that we have here the judgment of the nations.

Psalms 149:6

Let’s keep in mind that when the Lord Jesus returns to this earth, He will not be welcomed by the nations of the world. He is coming to judge this earth. When He returns to this little planet, He will put down the rebellion that has broken out; and He will break them with the rod of iron. As it is said in Psalms 2, “Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel” (Psa_2:9). Oh, my friend, let’s not be deluded by this namby-pamby way of thinking that our God is not going to judge. You and I are living in a world that is moving to a judgment day.
