Jeremiah 5:1

JEREMIAH SPELLS OUT SPECIFIC SINSYou remember the story of old Diogenes, the Greek philosopher, who went through the streets of Athens with a lantern. They asked him what he was looking for, and his answer was, “I am looking for an honest man.” He never did find one. I think you would have the same trouble in Los Angeles and maybe also in your town. “If ye can find a man …I will pardon it.” Why didn’t Abraham keep on pleading with God for Sodom and Gomorrah? He stopped praying after he had asked God to spare the city for ten righteous men. God would have saved the city for one righteous man. He had to get that one man, Lot, out of the city before He could destroy it. Look at how God speaks of His people

Jeremiah 5:8

What is the big sin in our nation today? It is sexual sin, only we don’t call it that. We call it “the new morality.” But God still calls adultery sin. In fact He uses sarcasm of the first water: He says, “Every man is neighing like a horse for his neighbor’s wife.” What a picture of our contemporary culture!

Jeremiah 5:27

In our generation we have seen a great many kids walk away from their homes because of the conditions which exist in them. I have talked to many of these young people, and I believe this verse gives a valid evaluation of what has happened.
