GOD’S JUDGMENT ON JEROBOAMDavid is the standard, you see, for the kings of both the northern and southern kingdoms from now on. Jeroboam fell far short of the man David was, and God will set him aside.

JUDAH’S APOSTASY UNDER REHOBOAMYou would think things would be better in the southern kingdom with Rehoboam, but they weren’t. Old Rehoboam is now beginning to go down, but he is keeping up a front. When the golden shields are taken by the king of Egypt, he substitutes brass shields. Next we are told that there was civil war.
