1 Chronicles 23:3 Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand. 1 Chronicles 23:3 — Comments - What was significant about the age of thirty? Most likely because it was at this age that a priest was qualified to enter into his office, even though he was set apart for the priestly or Levitical office by the fact that he was born a descendent of Aaron or a Levite. Note the Mosaic Law in Numbers 4:46-47. Numbers 4:46-47, “All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers, From thirty years old and upward even unto fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation,”
