2 Samuel 19:2

THe Victory] Hebrew, The deliverance or salvation.

2 Samuel 19:3

By stealth] Without joy, or pomp, or noise of triumph, quietly, without presenting themselves to the King.

2 Samuel 19:4

Covered] In token of extreame sorrow, 2 Sam. 16. 30.

2 Samuel 19:5

Shamed] Shewing that the service which they have done thee, is not acceptable unto, thee, and frustrated their expectation of the praises, and rewards which they thought to have had from thee.

2 Samuel 19:9

Were at strife] The one laying the fault of this rebellion upon others, and all accusing themselves of their slownesse, in making amends for their fault.

2 Samuel 19:12

My bones] Of my race, and parentage of Judahs lineage.

2 Samuel 19:13

Amasa] Generall of Absaloms armie, 2 Samuel, Chapter 17. verses 25 My bone] The neerest kinsman I have, for hee was Davids sisters sonne, 1 Chronicle chapter 2. v. 17.Before me] that is to say, so long as I shall live.

2 Samuel 19:14

He bowed] Namely David, by the meanes of Amasa and the Priests.

2 Samuel 19:15

To conduct] To comfort him in his return and to accompany him.

2 Samuel 19:17

Before the King] To go meet him beyond Jordan. Or before the King was come over.

2 Samuel 19:18

A 〈…〉ie boat] Prepared for the Kings passage, by the men of Judah.

2 Samuel 19:19

Impute] Let him not hold me guiltie therefore, but pardon my fault Take it] For to remember it, and beare it in minde.

2 Samuel 19:20

Of Ioseph] That is to say of the tenne Tribes, above which Ephraims tribe who was desded from Joseph, had alwayes the preheminence.

What right] Since my life, and all that I have is thy gift, I cannot gaine say thy will in any thing, nor complaine that thou hast done me any wrong.

Leviticus twenty fift verse 10 I have said] This is my last, and definitive sentence.

2 Samuel 19:30

Yea let him] I little care for my goods though I were to loose them all, I am so joyfull to see thee re-established.

2 Samuel 19:35

Betweene good] In meate and drinke, and other delights, and bodily pleasures.

2 Samuel 19:37

Chimham] The Sonne of Barzillay, as it appeareth by the first booke of Kings 2. ver. 7.

2 Samuel 19:40

Halse] Namely either those who had not rebelled at all, or those who were first come againe into his obedience.

2 Samuel 19:42

Neere kinne] That is to say of the same tribe.

2 Samuel 19:43

In the King] That is to say in his Kingdome, being tenne Tribes, to the two of Benjamin and Judah More right] Becausehe was indeed by us raised to bee King over Israel, 2 Samuel Chapter 5. verse 1. and yee of Judah were the first Authors of the last rebellion The words] That is to say the men of Judah would not seeke to quench with good words the fire that was already kindled, but spake more taunting words then the others. See of the like jealousies, Judg. 8 1. and 12 1.
