Joshua 12:1

K. Summary of Conquests (Chap. 12)12:1-6 The first six verses take us back to the victory that God gave Moses over Sihon, king of the Amorites, and Og, king of Bashan. These victories are considered as part of the total conquest, since the territory was occupied by the two and a half tribes east of the Jordan River. 12:7-24 God had made a promise earlier to Israel before they crossed the Jordan: “He will deliver their kings into your hand, and you will destroy their name from under heaven; no one shall be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them” (Deu_7:24). Here are thirty-one instances of God’s faithfulness (vv. 7-24); Joshua defeated thirty-one . . . kings on the west side of the Jordan.
