Jeremiah 44
BBCJeremiah 44:1
44:1-14 Chapter 44 is the last record we have of Jeremiah in Egypt. It is presumed that he died there. Jeremiah reminded his countrymen that all their calamity came as a result of idolatry; yet they were still worshiping false gods in Egypt. As a result, they would be utterly destroyed; none would return to Judah except a few refugees. 44:15-30 But the people refused to listen to Jeremiah, claiming that they prospered more when they served the queen of heaven. The men were involved in this false worship as well as the women. Again the prophet told them that idolatry was the cause of their trouble and that, by their sin, they have forfeited the right to call upon the Name of the LORD. A terrible judgment! They would be sorely punished, and the king of Egypt in whom they trusted would be overcome.
