Suburbs] The Suburbs of the Cities of the Priests, and Levites were 1000. Cubits from the Cities on every side: And so 2000. in the limits and utmost Bounds and Borders of each Quarter, East, West, North, and South.

Shall not be guilty] The innocent man, that by meere accident, against his will slew a man, might yet, as it seemes, be lawfully slaine by the revenger of blood, if he took him without the Citie of refuge. Which the more shews the wrath of God against murder.
