Isaiah 44

Isaiah 44:1

yet now] Notwithstanding all their sinnes; and his judgements and chastisements; yet he would now at length, relieve and refresh them, restore them, and cause them to thrive and prosper again.

Isaiah 44:3

I will poure] A type of that spiritual blessing, and growth and increase of Gods Church, and the members of it, under the Messias, by the graces and comforts of his Spirit.

Isaiah 44:5

One shall say] Gods blessing to them, in the addition of many Proselytes.

Isaiah 44:7

since I appointed the ancient people] The lineage of Abraham to be my peculiar people.

things that are coming] Things to come, in a continued course, from the first to the last, like lincks of a chaine, hanging one upon another.

Isaiah 44:8

Is there a God besides me?] That can so foretel, and do?

Isaiah 44:9

They that make a graven Image] The sottishnesse of them, their makers, and worshippers, is largely set down, ver. 9,—20.

Isaiah 44:21

Remember these] Their sottishnesse: and thy duty, by all my dealings with thee, so freely, and bountifully, above my dealings with others.

Isaiah 44:23

Sing, O ye heavens] At the redemption and deliverance of Gods people. Implying such abundant matter of joy, as might well affect the whole Creation, were it all sensible of it.

Isaiah 44:25

that frustrateth the tokens of the liars] Specialy those that would prognosticate the long continuance of the Babylonian Monarchy.

Isaiah 44:26

messengers] Such as Esay, Jeremy, Ezekiel, and others.

Isaiah 44:28

That saith of Cyrus] Thus naming him about two hundred yeares before he was borne. So to assure them of their deliverance by him.
