The Cure for Anxiety (Matthew 6:25-34) (Luke 12:22-32)
25“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life,as towhat you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body,as towhat you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?26“Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, andyetyour heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?27“And who of you by being worried can add asinglehour to his life?28“And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,29yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.30“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which isalivetoday and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will Henot much moreclotheyou? You of little faith!31“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’32“For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
22And He said to His disciples, “For this reason I say to you, do not worry aboutyourlife,as towhat you will eat; nor for your body,as towhat you will put on.23“For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.24“Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, andyetGod feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!25“And which of you by worrying can add asinglehour to his life’s span?26“If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters?27“Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.28“But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which isalivetoday and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much morewill He clotheyou? You men of little faith!29“And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying.30“For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things.31“But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.32“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.
