(Verses 17 & 18.)
1 O GOD, the help of all Thy saints, Our hope in time of ill; We'll trust Thee, though Thy face be hid, And seek Thy presence still.
2 All our desires to Thee are known; Thy help is ever near; Oh first prepare our hearts to pray, And then accept our prayer. Edward Osler, 1866.

1 WHEN all bespeaks a Father's love, Oh wherefore, fearful as the dove, Should we in times of peril flee To any refuge, Lord, but Thee?
2 In vain the wicked bend their bow, And seek to lay the righteous low, Thou from Thine everlasting throne With watchful care regard'st Thine own.
3 Thy voice shall seal the sinner's fate, Just vengeance shall his crimes await; While the bright beams of grace divine, Shall on Thy faithful servants shine. Harriett Auber, 1829.

1 LORD, when iniquities abound, And blasphemy grows bold, When faith is hardly to be found, And love is waxing cold,
2 Is not Thy chariot hastening on? Hast Thou not given this sign? May we not trust and live upon A promise so divine?
3 "Yes," saith the Lord," now will I rise, And make oppressors flee: I shall appear to their surprise, And set my servants free."
4 Thy word, like silver seven times tried, Through ages shall endure; The men that in Thy truth confide Shall find Thy promise sure. Isaac Watts, 1719.
