45 The work of the Holy Spirit
"He will bring glory to Me by taking from what is Mine—and revealing it to you!" John 16:14
This is a special part of
The Spirit unfolds to us . . .
the glory of Christ’s person,
the riches of Christ’s grace,
the merit of Christ’s righteousness,
the efficacy of Christ’s blood,
the power of Christ’s intercession,
the preciousness of Christ’s Word, and
the adaptation of Christ’s offices to all our needs.
The Spirit takes . . .
Christ’s doctrines—and teaches us to understand them;
Christ’s promises—and helps us to believe them;
Christ’s precepts—and enables us to keep them.
The things of Christ are all great, glorious, and valuable; they are calculated . . .
to strengthen our faith,
to increase our hope,
to influence our love,
to quicken our zeal, and
to consecrate all our powers to His service.
O that the Holy Spirit would take of the things of Christ—and reveal them unto us today! May we . . .
see Christ’s glory,
enjoy Christ’s presence,
and promote Christ’s cause!
