Great God, What Do I See and Hear!

1 min read · Chapter 77 of 192
Great God, what do I see and hear! The end of things cre-a-ted! The Judge of man-kind doth ap-pear On clouds of glo-ry seat-ed! The trump-et sounds; the graves re-store The dead which they con-tained be-fore Pre-pare, my soul, to meet Him. The dead in Christ shall first a-rise, At the last trum-pet's sound-ing, Caught up to meet Him in the skies, With joy their Lord sur-round-ing; No gloom-y fears their souls dis-may; His pres-ence sheds e-ter-nal day On those pre-pared to meet Him. But sin-ners, filled with guilt-y fears, Be-hold His wrath pre-vail-ing; For they shall rise, and find their tears And sighs are un-a-vail-ing: The day of grace is past and gone; Trem-bling they stand be-fore the throne, All un-pre-pared to meet Him. Great God, what do I see and hear! The end of things cre-a-ted! The Judge of man-kind doth ap-pear On clouds of glo-ry seat-ed! Be-neath His cross I view the day When heaven and earth shall pass a-way, And thus pre-pare to meet Him.
