Chapter 262 of 328

Dr. Waldenstrom on Propitiation

1 min read · Chapter 262 of 328

I can only write a line to acknowledge your kind letter and to thank the dear brethren who remember me. I am very low, but very peaceful and happy, and still continue to labor at tracts and small papers, etc. But sleep is a dreadful assailant except at night. I judge it was my fall at Dundee which brought my state to this. I have been writing on Propitiation which the Swedes are in trouble about, and Philadelphia which has troubled the brethren, but both very short.
Kindest love to the brethren.
Your affectionate brother.

Dr. Waldenstrom on Propitiation
Dear -, -
People will have to take the truth for the love of it, and live it as Christians. The apostle has warned us about those in the Christian's place not enduring sound doctrine. I have already had to do with the Swedes on the subject of the atonement, and similar subjects are current here. But oh, how different is the simple word of God! How refreshing and strengthening, and from Himself? I dread filling my mind with notions, but reading any quantity of them only shows how wretchedly poor they are. How should man's mind reveal God's thoughts? Rationalism and mysticism may resist or mingle them up, but they remain themselves and only themselves. Revelation all these things deny, and that is the real point. And what a thing it is to have one!...
Your affectionate brother in the Lord.
