- The Scene Changes
We leave the scene of earthly judgment as we move into chapter seven of the Revelation. There John describes a scene of joyful praise and worship unmatched in all of history. John sees “a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.” John goes on to say, “They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.” And their song was an anthem of praise to God and the Lamb:
Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!
While God’s judgments are visited upon the earth, the over comers seem to be spared to join the vast throng of the redeemed and glorified saints in heaven. The chapter begins with an amazing description of four strong angels holding back the four winds of the earth—winds of judgment and distress. As they wait, another angel calls out to them, “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God” (Revelation 7:3).
