12. Sometimes I believe I have trusted Jesus and am justified before God, but I cannot forget my sins; they come before me night and day. Surely, if I were really forgiven I could forget the past.”
Ah, dear troubled one, the closer you get to Christ, and the more deeply you repent of your sins, the more you will abhor yourself forever committing them. But let your com fort be in this blessed thought—God has forgotten them! He says, "Their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." So when they come before your mind to trouble and distress you, just rest in the fact that God has forgotten them, and will never bring them up again. Christ has settled for all of those sins. Believe it and be at peace,
"Settled forever, sin's tremendous claim,
Glory to Jesus, blessed be His name;
No part-way measures doth His grace provide,
Finished the work, when Christ the Saviour died.”
