Who is to have the authority in the matter of gracious adoption. The children of wrath? Surely not; and yet all men are such! No; it stands to nature, to reason, to common sense, that none but the parent can have the discretion to adopt. 587.488 If the Lord should choose to show mercy to only one man in the world, he has the perfect right to do so; if he chooses to give it to a few, or if he chooses to give it to all, he has the right to do so. 2670.172
