152. For the Right Distribution of Patronage.

Ant. He chose David, His servant, and took him away from the sheepfold, that he might feed Jacob His people and Israel His inheritance.

Power belongeth unto God: And He appointeth to every man the bounds of his habitation.

ALMIGHTY GOD, Who rulest in the affairs of men, and givest power to whomsoever Thou wilt; Grant that those who shall be appointed to any high office, whether in Church or State [naming any if vacant], may with such purity of faith and singleness of intention devote themselves to Thy glory, that they may prosper in the work intrusted to them, and while they adorn by their pious conversation the doctrine of our Saviour Jesus Christ, may win others to the love of Thine adorable Name, and the exercise of Thy holy religion; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
