93. For Sanctification and Amendment.

Ant. Before I was troubled I went wrong: but now have I kept Thy word. My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord: Nor faint when thou art rebuked of Him. a.

HEAR us, Almighty and most merciful God and Saviour; extend Thy accustomed goodness to this Thy servant who is grieved with sickness. Sanctify, we beseech Thee, this Thy fatherly correction to him; that the sense of his weakness may add strength to his faith, and seriousness to his repentance: that if it shall be Thy good pleasure to restore him to his former health, he may lead the residue of his life in Thy fear, and to Thy glory; or else, give him grace so to take Thy visitation, that after this painful life ended, he may dwell with Thee in life ever lasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Anglican. b.

OLOBD, forasmuch as it is an easy thing with Thee to give life to the dead, restore, we pray Thee, to the sick their former health, and grant that they who seek the healing of Thy heavenly mercy may also obtain the remedies necessary for the body; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Gothic. c.

WE implore Thy mercy, Lord, the Giver of all health, on behalf of our brethren who are troubled with manifold diseases by reason of the infirmity of the flesh, that Thou, who alone canst relieve them, wilt be pleased to visit them with Thy gracious presence; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Gallican.
