The Portrait on the Battlefield

1 min read · Chapter 91 of 179

The story is told of a famous King of Poland who did brave deeds in his day, and said that he owed his character to a secret habit which he had formed. He was the son of a noble father, and he always carried with him a small portrait of this father. Whenever he went to battle he would look upon that brave father’s picture, and nerve himself to do deeds of daring. “I will do nothing,” he used to say, “that will dishonor my father’s name.” Like that wise king, you may have with you a miniature portrait of the Lord Jesus Christ by remembering in your heart His beautiful words. If we carefully follow the instructions Jesus has given to us in the Bible, we can never go wrong.
