And there shall be no poor nor beggar among you: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in the land which he will give thee in possession.
Yahweh our God will bless you in the land that he is giving to you. If you obey Yahweh our God and obey all the commandments that I am giving to you today, there will not be any poor people among you.

Deuteronomy 15:4 Summary
[This verse, Deuteronomy 15:4, is a beautiful promise from God that He will provide for the needs of His people. As it says in Philippians 4:19, God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. This doesn't mean that everyone will be rich, but that everyone will have what they need to live a life that honors God. By trusting in God's provision and obeying His commands, we can experience the blessings of Deuteronomy 15:4 in our own lives.]
Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean that there will be no poor among the people of God?
This verse, Deuteronomy 15:4, promises that God will bless His people so that they will have no need, as seen in Deuteronomy 8:18 where it says God gives us the power to gain wealth. However, this does not mean that everyone will be rich, but rather that everyone's needs will be met.
Is this promise only for the Israelites or does it apply to Christians today?
While this specific promise was given to the Israelites, the principle of God's provision and care for His people is seen throughout the Bible, such as in Psalm 37:25, where it says that the righteous will not be forsaken or their children beg for bread.
How does this verse relate to the concept of the year of release mentioned in the preceding verses?
The year of release, mentioned in Deuteronomy 15:2, is a time when debts are forgiven, and this verse, Deuteronomy 15:4, explains that one of the reasons for this practice is so that there will be no poor among God's people, as God will bless them and provide for their needs.
What is the condition for this promise to be fulfilled?
The promise of no poverty is conditional upon obedience to God's commands, as seen in Deuteronomy 15:5, which says that this blessing will come if the people obey the Lord their God and carefully follow all His commandments.
