¹⁵In front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits high, each with a capital on top measuring five cubits. ¹⁶He made interwoven chains and put them on top of the pillars. He made a hundred pomegranates and fastened them into the chainwork. ¹⁷Then he set up the pillars in front of the temple, one on the south and one on the north. The pillar on the south he named Jachin, and the pillar on the north he named Boaz.

Summary

This verse describes the inner sanctuary of the temple that King Solomon built for the Lord, known as the Most Holy Place. The two cherubim statues made of olive wood were placed inside the sanctuary, each measuring ten cubits high. The wings of the cherubim spanned twenty cubits, symbolizing the grandeur and majesty of God's presence in the temple. The cherubim faced the main room of the temple, overshadowing the ark of the covenant with their outstretched wings, signifying reverence and protection over the sacred items within.
