Gill's Exposition on 1 Chronicles 7:39

And the sons of Ulla,.... Who either was the son of Ara, last mentioned, or another son of Jether: Arah, and Haniel, and Rezia; here ends the genealogy of Asher; the last of the tribes; Dan and Zebulun not being reckoned at all.

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown on 1 Chronicles 7:39

And Heber begat Japhlet, and Shomer, and Hotham, and Shua their sister. No JFB commentary on these verses.

Matthew Poole's Commentary on 1 Chronicles 7:39

Ulla; another son of Jether, as may be gathered by the course of the genealogy, though he be not expressed with his brethren, . See the like defect ,34.

Ellicott's Commentary on 1 Chronicles 7:39

(39) The sons of Ulla.—Apparently Ulla is not connected with the foregoing genealogy. But he seems to be the same as Ara (1 Chronicles 7:38). ‘Arâ’ is a very curious form, and may be due to a copyist’s eye having wandered to Be-era at the end of last verse; ‘Ullâ’ is intelligible, and probably correct. If the identification be allowed, we get a complete concatenation from 1 Chronicles 7:30-39. Arah is in Hebrew quite different from Ara.

Cambridge Bible on 1 Chronicles 7:39

The treatment of different tribes is unequal in this chapter. In the case of Issachar (1 Chronicles 7:1-5), Benjamin (1 Chronicles 7:6-12), and Asher (1 Chronicles 7:30-40), genealogies are given and the number of fighting-men of each tribe is stated. To Naphtali is devoted a single verse, giving only the names of his sons. For Manasseh and Ephraim genealogies are given and their possessions are shortly enumerated. The mention of Dan is obliterated, owing to the state of the text of 1 Chronicles 7:12.
