1 And it came to pass on the second-sabbath after the first, that as He was passing through the corn-fields, his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and rubbed in hands and ate 2 And some of the pharisees said to them, Why do ye do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath-days? 3 And Jesus answering them said, himself was hungry and those that were with him? how he went into the house of God,} 4 to eat but the priests.} 5 And He said unto them, 6 And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that He went into a synagogue and taught; and there was a man there, whose right hand was withered. 7 And the scribes and pharisees watched Him if He would work a cure on the sabbath: that they might find an accusation against Him. 8 But He knew their thoughts, and said to the man that had the withered hand, and he rose up and stood 9 Then said Jesus unto them, Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to let be lost?} 10 And looking round upon them all, He said to the man, and he did so, and his hand was made sound as the other. 11 And they were filled with confusion: and consulted together, what they might do to Jesus. 12 And in those days He went out to a mountain to pray, and He continued all night in prayer to God. 13 And when it was day, He called his disciples to and chose out twelve from them, whom He also named apostles: 14 ( Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, 15 Matthew and Thomas, James of Alpheus, and Simon called Zelotes, and Judas of James, 16 and Judas Iscariot, who was the traitor:) 17 and He came down with them, and stood in the plain; with the rest of his disciples, and a great multitude of people from all Judea, and Jerusalem, and the coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases, 18 even those that were tormented by impure spirits: and they were healed. 19 And all the people endeavoured to touch Him, for there went virtue out of Him, and healed all. 20 And lifting up his eyes on his disciples He said, poor; for the kingdom of God is yours.} 21 that hunger now; for ye shall be satisfied. Blessed that weep now; for ye shall laugh.} 22 and cast out your name as infamous on account of the Son of man.} 23 great in heaven: for thus did their fathers to the prophets.} 24 rich; for ye have received your consolation.} 27 hearers, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you,} 29 cheek, offer also the other; and let him that taketh thy cloke, have thy coat too } 30 demand nothing.} 32 them that love you, what thanks are to you? for even the wicked love those that love them:} 33 to them that do good to you, what thanks are to you? for even wicked do the same.} 34 to you? for sinners also lend to sinners that they may receive an equivalent.} 35 and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the most High; for He is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked:} 36 Father also is merciful.} 38 and running over, shall they give into your bosom: for by the same measure, which ye measure with, shall it be measured back to you.} 39 parable, Can a blind guide a blind will not both fall into a ditch?} 40 will as his master.} 42 to take out the chaff that is in thy brother’s eye.} 43 is not a good tree which produceth bad fruit, nor the tree bad, which produceth good fruit:} 44 do not gather figs from thorns, nor grapes from a bramble.} 45 good; and an evil man, out of the evil treasure of his heart, bringeth forth evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.} 46 } 48 building an house digged deep, and laid the foundation upon a rock; and when a flood came, the torrent beat violently against that house, but could not shake it, for it was founded upon a rock.} 49 foundation, which the flood beat violently upon, and immediately it fell and the ruin of that house was great.}
