1 And the Pharisees and Sadducees, coming near, tempting , asked Him to show them a sign from the heaven; 2 and He, answering, said to them, fair, for the heaven is red;’} 3 .} 4 And, leaving them, He departed. 5 And the disciples, coming to the other aide, forgot to take bread. 6 And Jesus said to them, 7 And they were deliberating among themselves, saying, “We took no bread." 8 And Jesus, knowing it, said, 9 } 10 ?} 11 ye do not perceive that I spake not to you concerning bread? but beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?} 12 Then they understood that He did not bid them beware of the leaven of the bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. 13 And Jesus, having come into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, was asking His disciples, saying, 14 And they said, “Some say John the Immerser; and others, Elijah; and others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." 15 And He saith to them, 16 And Simon Peter, answering, said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus, answering, said to him, to you, but My Father Who is in Heaven.} 18 gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.} 20 Then He charged the disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Christ. 21 From that time began Jesus to show to His disciples, that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and high-priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised up. 22 And Peter, taking Him aside, began to rebuke Him, saying, " merciful to Thee! this shall not be to Thee." 23 But, turning, He said to Peter, 24 Then said Jesus to His disciples,
