Psalms 61
BSA1 Hear [listen to, give attention to] my cry [loud and urgent prayer], O God [the Almighty, Creator]; attend [give ear, pay attention] to my prayer [request, supplication]. word study 2 From the ends [farthest reaches, distant borders] of the earth I call out [cry, send up my cry] to You whenever my heart [inner being, spirit] is faint [overwhelmed, feeble]. Lead me to the rock [place of safety, high rock] that is higher [over-high, above] than I. word study 3 For You [my Rock, my Shelter] have been my refuge [a strong tower, a safe haven], a tower [a strong fortress, a high place] of strength [power, might] against [in the face of, from] the enemy [those who oppose, adversaries]. word study 4 Let me dwell [live, reside, abide] in Your tent [tabernacle, sacred dwelling place] forever [to the ages, always] and take refuge [trust, find shelter] in the shelter [covert, secret place] of Your wings. Selah word study 5 For You [O God, the supreme Being] have heard my vows [solemn promises, prayers], O God; You have given me the inheritance [heritage, blessing] reserved for those who fear [reverence, awe] Your name [Your character, nature]. word study 6 Increase [prolong, add to] the days of the king’s life [reign, earthly existence]; may his years [seasons, generations] span [be as long as, endure for] many [numerous, successive] generations [ages, cycles of time]. word study 7 May he sit enthroned [in a position of authority, as a king] in God’s [Elohim, the supreme Ruler] presence [before His face, in His sight] forever [for all eternity, throughout all generations]; appoint [ordain, establish] Your loving devotion [faithful love, kindness] and Your faithfulness [truth, reliability] to guard [protect, preserve] him. word study 8 Then I will ever [always, continually] sing praise [offer hymns of adoration] to Your name [Your character, reputation] and fulfill [perform, keep] my vows [promises, solemn obligations] day by day [daily, every day, consistently]. word study
