Psalms 3
BSA1 O LORD [Yehovah], how my foes [adversaries, enemies] have increased [multiplied, become many]! How many [a great number] rise up [rebel, oppose] against me [in opposition to, against my well-being]! word study 2 Many [unnumbered, numerous] say of me, “God [Elohim, the supreme God] will not deliver [save, help] him [my soul, my life].” Selah word study 3 But You, O LORD [the supreme God, Yehovah], are a shield [buckler, protector] around me, my glory [honour, triumph], and the One who lifts [enables me to triumph, holds] my head [enabling me to triumph over my enemies]. word study 4 To the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] I cry aloud [with my voice, calling out], and He answers me from His holy [set apart, sacred] mountain [hill, sacred hill]. Selah [pause, think about that] word study 5 I lie down [to rest, to sleep] and sleep [in trust, confidently]; I wake again [in the morning, refreshed], for the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] sustains me [supports me, takes care of me]. word study 6 I [as an individual] will not fear [be afraid of, dread] the myriads [tens of thousands, a vast multitude] set against me [arrayed, positioned] on every side [around me, surrounding me]. word study 7 Arise [stand up, rise to action], O LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God]! Save me [rescue, deliver me], O my God [Elohim, my divine Savior]! Strike [hit, smite] all my enemies [those who oppose me, my adversaries] on the jaw [cheek bone, the face]; break [shatter, crush] the teeth [the power, the strength] of the wicked [the ungodly, the evil-doers]. word study 8 Salvation [deliverance, rescue, or safety] belongs to the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God]; may Your blessing [favor, kindness, or prosperity] be on Your people [nation, congregation, or those who belong to Him]. Selah [pause, reflect, or consider] word study
