Psalms 13
BSA1 How long, O LORD [the Eternal, Almighty God]? Will You forget [put out of Your memory, overlook] me forever [for all eternity, continually]? How long will You hide [turn away, conceal] Your face [Your presence, countenance] from me? word study 2 How long must I wrestle [struggle, be in turmoil] in my soul [inner being, mind], with sorrow [grief, sadness] in my heart [emotions, spirit] each day [daily, every day]? How long will my enemy [adversary, opponent] dominate [be exalted over, triumph over] me? word study 3 Consider [think about, reflect on] me and respond [answer, hear], O LORD [Yehovah, my sovereign God] my God [the Almighty, my Savior]. Give [shed, impart] light [understanding, spiritual illumination] to my eyes [my inner being, my heart], lest [so that not, unless] I sleep [fall into spiritual darkness, become unresponsive] in death [separation from God, spiritual decay], word study 4 lest [or beware that] my enemy [adversary, foe] say, “I have [totally] overcome [prevailed against, defeated] him,” and my foes [those who trouble me] rejoice [celebrate, are glad] when I fall [am moved, slip]. word study 5 But I have trusted [put my confidence, relied] in Your loving devotion [never-failing love, mercy]; my heart [inner being, spirit] will rejoice [be glad, sing] in Your salvation [rescue, deliverance]. word study 6 I [as an individual, personally] will sing [praise, rejoice] to the LORD [Yehovah, my Savior], for [because, since] He [the Almighty, my Deliverer] has been [continually, graciously] good [kind, dealt bountifully] to me [toward me, on my behalf]. word study
