Psalms 122

1 I was glad [rejoiced, happy] when they said [spoke, told] to me, “Let us go [walk, journey] to the house [dwelling place, temple] of the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God].” word study 2 Our feet [at last, now] are standing [firmly, in a strong sense, like Moses in Exodus 17:12] in your gates [city entrances, temple doors], O Jerusalem [the city of peace]. word study 3 Jerusalem [the city of peace, a place of wholeness] is built up [established, reconstructed] as a city [a community, a place of gathering] united [compact, joined together] together [in unity, as one], word study 4 where the tribes [companies of Israel, going up as one] go up, the tribes [clans or families] of the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God], as a testimony [witness to God’s laws] for Israel [the descendants of Jacob], to give thanks [praise and worship] to the name [reputation and character] of the LORD [the Lord of all]. word study 5 For [because, since] there [in that place] the thrones [seats of power] of judgment [justice, righteous decision] stand [are set, have been established], the thrones [rulers’ seats] of the house [family, lineage, descendants] of David [the king]. word study 6 Pray [ask, inquire of God] for the peace [completeness, wellness, friendship, shalom] of Jerusalem [the city of peace]: “May those who love [have affection for, are devoted to] you [God, the Almighty] prosper [be at rest, secure, happy, live peacefully]. word study 7 May there be [true and lasting] peace [shalom, completeness and wellness] within your walls [rampart, strong fortress], and [abundant] prosperity [ease, quietness and wealth] inside your [high and fortified] fortresses [citadel, palace].” word study 8 For the sake [because, on account] of my brothers [relatives, close friends] and friends [companions, neighbors], I will say [speak, declare], “Peace [shalom, completeness and wellness] be within [in the midst of] you [inside thee].” word study 9 For the sake [because of, on behalf of] of the house [dwelling place, temple] of the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God] our God [Elohim, the supreme God], I will seek [search for, pursue] your prosperity [good, welfare, pleasant things]. word study
