Isaiah 62

BSA

1 For Zion’s [the city of God, heavenly Jerusalem] sake I will not keep silent [hold my peace, remain quiet], and for Jerusalem’s [the city of peace, capital of Israel] sake I will not keep still [rest, be at peace], until her righteousness [justice, moral integrity] shines like a bright light [as brightness, like the dawn], her salvation [deliverance, victory] like a blazing torch [a burning lamp, a shining flame]. word study 2 Nations [Gentiles, non-Hebrew peoples] will see your righteousness [justice, moral integrity], and all kings [royal rulers, monarchs] your glory [honor, splendor]. You will be called by a new [fresh, renewed] name that the mouth [lip, voice] of the LORD [Yehovah, the Lord God] will bestow [give, declare]. word study 3 You will be a crown of glory [splendor, majestic honor] in the hand [an open hand; strength, a side or share] of the LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God], a royal [kingly, majestic] diadem [turban, headdress] in the palm [the open hand] of your God [Elohim, the one supreme God]. word study 4 No longer [not ever again] will you be called Forsaken [abandoned, left desolate], nor your land named Desolate [a wasteland, devoid of life]; but you will be called Hephzibah [My delight is in her], and your land Beulah [married, owned by the Lord]; for the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] will take delight in you [be pleased with, have affection for], and your land will be His bride [married to Him, under His care]. word study 5 For as a young man [youth in his prime] marries a young woman [virgin, a bride in her purity], so your sons [descendants, children] will marry you; and as a bridegroom [husband, son-in-law] rejoices [feels great joy and delight] over his bride [daughter-in-law, wife], so your God [Elohim, the supreme Lord] will rejoice [be happy and cheerful] over you. word study 6 On your walls [upon your protective barriers], O Jerusalem [the city of peace], I have posted [appointed, set in place] watchmen [faithful guardians]; they will never [at no time] be silent [still, quiet] day [the light of morning] or night [the darkness of evening]. You who call [invoke, pray to] on the LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God] shall take [give, allow] no rest [no pause, no quiet] for yourselves [on your own behalf], word study 7 nor give Him [no silence] any rest until He establishes [sets up, repairs] Jerusalem [the city of peace] and makes her [appoints, puts] the praise [a song of praise, a hymn] of the earth [the land, the world]. word study 8 The LORD [Yehovah, The covenant Name of God] has sworn [taken an oath, made a solemn promise] by His right hand [the right hand or side; the south] and by His mighty arm [the arm of His strength]: “Never again [not once more, still] will I give your grain [wheat or staple food] to your enemies [those who hate or oppose you] for food [something to eat, sustenance], nor will foreigners [people from other nations, strangers] drink the new wine [freshly squeezed from grapes, fermented wine] for which you have toiled [been weary, labored with effort]. word study 9 For those who harvest [gather, collect] grain will eat [consume, devour] it and praise [celebrate, honor] the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme God], and those who gather [collect, bring together] grapes will drink [partake, savor] the wine in My holy [set-apart, sacred] courts [sanctuary, temple].” word study 10 Go out [exit, depart], go out through the gates [city entrances]; prepare [make ready, clear] the way [path, journey] for the people [nation, community]! Build it up [exalt, construct], build up the highway [raised road, public way]; clear away [remove, gather out] the stones [rocks, obstacles]; raise [lift, exalt] a banner [flag, standard] for the nations [peoples, Gentiles]! word study 11 Behold [look, see], the LORD [Yehovah, the supreme God] has proclaimed [announced, declared] to the ends [borders, extremities] of the earth [land, world], “Say [tell, speak] to Daughter [female child, descendant] Zion [Jerusalem, the city of God]: See [behold, look], your Savior [Deliverer, Redeemer] comes [is coming, will arrive]! Look [behold, see], His reward [wages, recompense] is with [near, accompanying] Him, and His recompense [payment, reward] goes [proceeds, precedes] before [in front of, preceding] Him.” word study 12 And they will be called the Holy People [set apart, consecrated], the Redeemed [bought back, freed] of The LORD [Yehovah, the covenant God]; and you will be called Sought Out [desired, searched for], A City [a community, a place of habitation] Not [never, under no circumstances] Forsaken [abandoned, left behind]. word study
