7 Bible Verses on Sword

7 verses

In biblical teaching, the sword often symbolizes the power of God's Word to discern and judge the heart. As Hebrews 4:12 notes, the Word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword, able to divide soul and spirit. Jesus Himself spoke of bringing a sword, not of physical violence, but of spiritual division, as seen in Matthew 10:34 and Luke 22:36. The apostle Paul later writes of the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, as a vital part of the believer's armor in Ephesians 6:17, highlighting its role in spiritual warfare, a concept also illustrated in Jesus' response to Peter's physical defense in Matthew 26:52-54.
