5 Bible Verses on Numbers

5 verses

In the wilderness, God's people were guided and instructed through various means, including the distribution of the Spirit, as seen in the appointment of elders in Numbers 11:25-29. The book of Numbers also contains the beautiful priestly blessing, found in Numbers 6:24, which invokes God's favor and protection upon His people. The principles of leadership and authority established in Numbers are later referenced in the New Testament, such as in Romans 13:1, where submission to governing authorities is encouraged. Additionally, Numbers 35:33-34 and 31:18 provide insight into the importance of holiness and purity among God's people, highlighting the need for moral and spiritual separation from the surrounding world.

As the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied—but they never did so again. Two men, however, had remained in the camp—one named Eldad and the other Medad—and the Spirit rested on them. They were among those listed, but they had not gone out to the tent, and they prophesied in the camp. A young man ran and reported to Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.” Joshua son of Nun, the attendant to Moses since youth, spoke up and said, “Moses, my lord, stop them!” But Moses replied, “Are you jealous on my account? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would place His Spirit on them!”

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God.
Do not pollute the land where you live, for bloodshed pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land on which the blood is shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it. Do not defile the land where you live and where I dwell. For I, the LORD, dwell among the Israelites.”
