6 Bible Verses on Mushrooms

6 verses

In the biblical account of creation, God provided humanity with a vast array of plants and vegetation for food, as described in Genesis 1:29. Later, in Genesis 9:3, God granted humanity permission to eat any moving thing, which would include fungi such as mushrooms. However, the Bible also warns against the dangers of excess and sinful desires, listing sorcery and idolatry as works of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21, which some have associated with the use of certain fungi. Additionally, the Israelites were sustained in the wilderness by a miraculous provision of manna, described in Exodus 16:14, which some have likened to a type of fungus, and believers are cautioned to be sober and vigilant, as their adversary, described in 1 Peter 5:8, seeks to devour them.
